The sudden roaring of so many beasts startled everyone at the village.
It was so loud that you can hear it from everywhere inside the village.
Many people start running toward the village entrance to see what's going on.
Hong is the first one to arrive. He frown upon looking at the scene before his eyes.
There are countless beasts of many kinds overlooking the village from a distance.
It seems that they are ready to attack the village some time soon.
The village chief arrive with other villagers not long after Hong.
He is stuned for a moment when he look at the countless beasts but he quickly regain his senses and start giving orders to the villagers.
He first tell the guards to close the entrance gate. Then he tell the men to prepare for battle while the woman to bring the young and gather at his courtyard, which is in the middle of the village.
This is a system that he has created and told everyone before, in case of an emergency.
So the villagers quickly move to execute his order.
The men goes back to their own courtyard to get their weapons.
A few that are on the hunter team also going to grab their respective gear along with their weapons. They are the ones who has the equipment ready for this kinds of situation.
As for the regular villagers they only has some basic weapons with no armor or protection at all.
Even their weapons is those that aren't meant for this. Some of them are using axe that they usually used for chopping wood. Some use a shovel. Some used a crude spear made from a long stick.
The guards move quickly to close the gate.
From Cloud's perspective the one thing that are made with the most dedication here is the gate of the village.
It has two layers. One being a normal gate made from sticks with no hole. This in the regular gate that is usually opened at the morning and closed at night.
The other is the one that are never closed.
It is an emergency gate that are raised high and tied with a rope. When the rope is cut down the gate would fall from above.
This gate is also made from sticks with sharp ends at the bottom. So when the rope is cut down it will slide down and the sharp end would stick deep into the ground.
That would makes the gate firmer and won't be easily broken through.
This kind of gate is similar to an iron gate from medieval city. They are used specifically for defense purposes.
After all the village doesn't have a battlement above the wall like a city would.
The gate would have many small holes so the villagers can use that to attack the enemy from inside.
Before the villagers even finish their preparation there are another loud roar from the distance, followed by many other kinds of roars.
Then everyone can feel the ground shaking beneath them as the beasts start advancing toward the village.
Everyone hurried and they manage to gather before the beasts arrive at the gate.
At this point Cloud, Hong and the other hunter has already start using their bow and arrow the reduce the enemy number.
At the back, the village chief is preparing the other men that are scared by the number of the beasts. They are at least in the hundreds.
Though most of them are made up from small kinds of beasts with only a few that are big like bear, tiger, rhino ect.
The most noticable one is a bear at the back of the group.
It has a pitch black fur with a menacing eyes.
It's size is bigger than a regular bear. Cloud thought that its probably even bigger than a polar bear.
It hasn't attack yet. Only watching from behind for the moment.
After emptying all their arrows the hunter team start to draw their weapons for close combat.
The other villagers is ready to follow them from behind.
With the hunter team as vanguard and the villagers behind, they start a close combat around the gate.
The gate holds most of the attacking beasts. Only some that are very small manage to get through the hole.
The hunter with their respective weapons start cutting down the beasts at the gate.
Some small beasts that manage to get through the gate and the hunter, the villagers behind will deal with those.
The chief is overlooking the situation and giving command when necessary.
