Everyone is shocked seeing this. They thought that the chief was going to lose. And if he did, that mean it's over for them.
Nobody else can fight the bear.
But when they saw the bear grunt and hurting because of the sword that is stuck to its body, some people let out a breath of relief.
Some others wonder how the chief manages that.
Actually, what happened was that the chief already knows that the bear left an opening on purpose.
He has fought spirit beasts before so he knows that they are quite clever.
But he still took that chance anyway because their strength is about equal. If he can't land a decent blow anytime soon then they would be in trouble.
Because if the battle continue on like that it might be him that get injured first. Or the bear might choose to leave and come back another day when it's stronger or when it can bring more beasts.
For the chief it's crucial to kill the bear today.
After all in today's battle, everyone is drained and many are also injured. If the bear leave and come back tomorrow then they would be finish.
So the chief took a chance and he successfully dealt a decent blow to the bear.
When the bear is still grunting, the chief slowly stand up from the ground.
He is injured but his injuries are less severe compared to Hong.
He expected the hit after all so he managed to brace himself before he was hit.
Now he just have to finish the bear.
The bear is rampaging because of the pain.
The chief doesn't immediately finish the bear. He is not in a hurry.
He slowly walk to the side, to one of the hunter that has a sword and borrow that sword.
His eyes doesn't leave the bear though. He doesn't plan to let it get away.
After borrowing the sword he dash back near the bear.
The sword is quite crude, not comparable to his sword at all but this will do.
The chief still don't attack the bear right away though. He just keep watching it rampaging around while standing in its path of retreat.
The villagers are also watching from a distance. When the bear want to target them they backed out.
There is some distance and since the bear has slowed down considerably it cannot reach anyone.
So it just keep rampaging around. Hitting dead bodies of some beasts and roaring incessantly.
Gradually it start to tire itself out. Its movement slowed further and further.
Its breathing ragged. It has also lost a lot of blood from its wound.
At that moment the chief start to make his move.
His stamina has somewhat recovered.
He dash toward the bear with his revived speed. He slashes at the bear several times with his swordsmanship. Now those slashes leave a deep wounds.
The bear has no strength to fight back anymore.
At last, the chief jump above the bear that has go back to stand with four limbs because it doesn't have the strength to stand with its two legs anymore and he stab the bear's head through.
The bear grunt lastly and its body fall to the ground.
Cheers from the villagers comes after that.
They cheer as loudly as they can. They are genuinely happy because they finally manage to pass this disaster.
Some people including Cloud run to Hong to help him.
Then after they finish cheering, they start helping the severely injured and start treating them.
Some that has light injuries help move the severely injured and gather them in one place to rest.
The one that would start treating them would be the women and others.
After some rest the one that can move then start cleaning up the beast's bodies.
They put them into the food storage and start processing them.
But a lot of it is gathered for a celebratory party tonight.
Then at night they celebrate with many different kinds of roasted meat and meat soup.
Some people glance at the chief curiously from time to time at the party.
They never thought that the chief is some hidden expert. They always thought that the strongest person in the village is Hong.
Even Hong and Cloud didn't know. But for Hong, he always knew that the chief is quite a mysterious person. He just didn't know that the chief is that strong.
Nobody in the village actually knew the chief's strength.
He was always low key. Only focusing on managing things in the village.
That's why Hong was even more popular compared to him.
