Chapter 15 - CHAP-13: WHOLE COUNTRY'S DOWN FALL

An hour later...

Ashira collapsed onto the ultra-soft cloud sofa she had scavenged from the mall, opened a bottle of cola, heated up the delicious food like steak and shrimp she had packed from the Michelin restaurant yesterday in the microwave, and watched the current news with Storm, one person and one dog, in front of the large TV.

"Emergency broadcast, emergency broadcast!"

"This morning, a large number of bloody assault incidents occurred. Below, please follow our reporter to the scene to understand the situation."

In the live news's on-location interview, a reporter followed the camera into an area cordoned off with caution tape. In his footage. It was exactly near the hotel Ash had fled this morning. A large cordon had been set up around the bar street.

Inside the cordon, police were desperately using dispersal weapons like smoke bombs to disperse the surrounding crowd and suppress the riot, but with little effect.

In the thick smoke, heads were bobbing and screams occasionally erupted. Vehicles around were overturned or smashed, and vehicles like ambulances were trapped in the center, with no one knowing where the medical staff were!

Clearly, after the incident, a group of people tried to escape but couldn't go!

"Leave! Quickly leave!" At the edge of the cordon, a police officer was shouting loudly, driving away people trying to approach.

"The scene is a massacre," the reporter said, looking at the scene with a serious and anxious expression. "We don't know the exact cause yet, let's interview an eyewitness."

Just then, the reporter saw an injured person emerge from the smoke, and he immediately rushed towards him with the camera.

"Hello, Mr., do you know—"

"Ow—"

"Ah—" Following a scream, the camera shook violently, spinning wildly, as if the cameraman behind it had also been attacked.

When the camera hit the ground heavily, everyone saw the reporter from just now being heavily pressed down by the person who had run out, and with a splash, gushing blood splattered onto the lens.

"Beep—" The screen went completely black, and the interview was immediately cut off.

Citizens watching the live news broadcast at home were all stunned by this scene. Ashira looked at the city channel that had stopped broadcasting, her eyebrows slightly raised. She had retreated very promptly. If she had been even a little later, it definitely wouldn't have been this smooth.

She shook the remote control and switched to the next channel. The provincial television station. At this moment, the provincial television station was broadcasting content from news scripts that had been prepared earlier.

The latest news from the grassroots level had a delay. While the city channel could broadcast live news from the scene, the provincial channel hadn't reacted yet.

After broadcasting an economic news report, the host continued to smile and report on flu warnings as usual.

"Recently, the flu has been persistent, and we urge everyone to reduce going out and avoid cross-infection—"

Just then, a staff member covered in blood suddenly rushed onto the stage. He directly fell onto the host's desk.

After falling, he remained motionless. After seeing this scene, the host's calm and dignified face showed panic and strangeness.

He tried to look towards the director's booth, and instantly, as if he had seen something incredibly terrifying, horror filled his entire eyes.

"Director, cut—" Before he could finish speaking into his earpiece, the Man who had just fallen in front of his desk pounced forward.

"Ah—"

Immediately after. The television station directly displayed no signal. Such things were happening at many television stations. Some outbreaks were early, others were late.

For those where the outbreak was early, even the television signal was long gone, leaving only static; for those where it was late, it would be seen by the audience during the live broadcast!

On this day, all institutions were successively falling!

"Beep beep beep—"

Ashira switched through several channels one after another and found that except for a few channels set to broadcast fixed animations and TV series, which still had a signal, all the others were black screens.

And soon, all the interrupted signals were switched to the national channel. A line of broadcast subtitles on a pure black background appeared on the large screen.

"Emergency Notice!"

"Widespread attacks are occurring nationwide, please do not go out! All universities are suspended, all malls and institutions are closed, close your doors and windows securely! Wait for rescue! Wait for rescue! Wait for rescue!" The national channel cut off all signals and uniformly broadcast the notice.

"Wait for rescue" was written three times consecutively!

Ashira was extremely familiar with this scene. When the apocalypse broke out in her previous life, television stations also issued such announcements.

In the early stages, everyone firmly believed the content of the announcement, thinking that this crisis would be resolved soon.

But little did they know, this was a devastating blow! The Zombie virus was simply incurable! There was no other way but to immediately seal everything off and kill all infected people, including patients who had suffered even a slight injury! By the time the authorities reacted, the Zombie virus had already fully and deeply erupted.

In the end, they directly abandoned comprehensive rescue and turned to local self-rescue! Later on, they completely stopped issuing any notices!Everyone was left to fend for themselves! The state machinery had disintegrated.

By the time the people at the bottom reacted, the food and supplies in their homes had already been completely consumed. No one would proactively deliver supplies to them.

It was at this time that everyone realized the true apocalypse had begun. Find a way to gather supplies yourselves.

Ash was quite lucky in her previous life; because she was in the first hospital where the outbreak occurred, she witnessed the mutation.

Knowing the horror of the Zombie virus, after taking her sister-in-law back, she immediately made Her Family close their doors and windows tightly and not open any doors! This way, they fortunately avoided the initial Zombie outbreak crisis.

The neighborhood she was in at the time screamed continuously for three days and three nights. Any family that had opened their doors was completely wiped out!

Later, everyone gradually discovered a pattern: not making noise and keeping doors and windows tightly closed could temporarily avoid Zombies. While everyone was hiding, Ashira decisively went out to scavenge for supplies!

At this time, the Zombies' attack power was still relatively low! And most people hadn't reacted yet! They were all holed up at home, afraid to move.

Ashira was fully armed, wrapped tightly from head to toe, picked up a weapon, and carefully went out to the neighborhood supermarket to scavenge for supplies.

She returned safely, the journey filled with minor scars but no major incidents. But when she returned, Her Family originally didn't want to open the door! Because they were worried that Ashira had mutated.

It was Storm who kept crying inside the door, attracting more and more Zombies. They were worried that the Zombies would surround their house, so they let Ashira in.

Afterwards, upon confirming that Ashira was not injured at all and had brought back a large amount of supplies, they all changed their expressions and circled around her, trying to please her immensely.

Ashira considered them true family at the time. After being coaxed and scolding herself a few times, she gave them the supplies and also gave them many tips for dealing with Zombies.

While others hadn't dared to act yet, she took Michael and his Father to move some supplies back home, several times in a row.

Other people's homes had long run out of food and supplies. Seeing Ashira's actions, they gradually started to learn, and the apocalypse entered its second stage! Scavenging for supplies!

Soon, the supplies in their neighborhood store were completely scavenged. In this process, another large number of residents died.

Ashira was always cautious throughout the entire process, and she even forcefully fought back against several waves of neighbors who came to them asking for supplies, always protecting her Family until the rescue vehicle arrived.

The third stage of the apocalypse. There was rescue! Ashira learned from the radio that a rescue vehicle was coming and decisively took her whole family to the rescue point! Her Family at that time were all reluctant to go. They felt that with Ashira around, staying at home was quite safe.
