Hunter leaves her office and goes back to his department. When he gets there everyone in the department looks at him. He sits down and gets back to work. Everyone still stares at him. The supervisor goes to his working desk and taps at him gently. Hunter is shaken a bit and turns to face him.
"You scared me."
"Aren't you fired?"
"Did you want me to get fired?"
"You arrived late. Miss Phillips doesn't like people who get here late. How did you survive that?"
"Luck, I guess. She said my proposal was okay, so she compromised me."
"I have never heard her compromise with anyone since the day I came to work here. She hates it when people are late to work. She made that clear after one of the senior executives came to a company meeting late and fired him instantly without thinking twice while you, she reconsidered it?"
"I asked for leniency, I asked if I could be her driver for two weeks with no payment and she agreed to it."
"Wow fine."
News about how Hunter went to Miss Phillips and was not fired spread through the company and eventually reached to Claire. During noon break he got a message from a new number.
"Hi there, my new driver?"
"Miss Phillips."
"Seems someone has already forgotten about his offer.'"
"I had to come up with something. Everyone was asking I didn't know what to say."
"Fine."
Hunter waited for about 30 minutes for anything else but no one word came from her. He continued to work.
Two hours past noon Claire came to the programming department. Everyone except Hunter noticed she had gotten in. The other workers followed her with their eyes as she went and stood next to Hunter and tapped his shoulder twice. Hunter looked up and saw Claire. He stood up and bowed slightly.
"I want you to take me somewhere."
"It's still working hours right now ---"
"I call the shorts in this company so, whatever I say has to be done."
"Fine let me switch off everything and I take you."
Hunter organized his things and took his phone then followed Claire to her car. Hunter opened the car door for Claire and then got in the driver's seat.
"Where am I taking you today? "
"To your mother's place, I want to explain things to your mother, mama's boy. "
"Excuse me?"
"Take me to your mother, let me not repeat myself."
Claire closes her eyes. Hunter sees that she had closed her eyes through the rear-view mirror. He drives to his mother's restaurant and wakes Claire.
