Claire drove to her parents' house. They got in the house and found Mr. and Mrs. Phillips in the living room.
"I'm home."
"Where is your boyfriend?" Mr. Phillips asked immediately Claire finished speaking.
"He is here."
Hunter came in after Claire spoke. He stretched his hand to greet Mr. Phillips.
"Good evening, Mr. Phillips. I am really delighted to finally meet you. "
"She talks about me often?" Mr. Phillips asked giving his daughter a quizzical look.
"Yes, she does talk about you more often about you being the best father she has ever had. Hunter, Hunter Stevens."
"You look good." Mrs. Phillips Commented.
"I pick the best mom. "
"I'll go and ask the kitchen to bring us food; we need to celebrate the coming of our daughter's boyfriend."
They went to the dining room and sat in their seats. Hunter sat next to Claire.
"So, how did you guys meet?" Mr. Phillips asked.
"At a summit in New York." Claire replied.
"Yes. After that we went and took a drink in a bar and then boom we started seeing each other. " Hunter continued after she spoke.
They continued their meal in silence. Hunter was not used to being somewhere in silence, so he started a conversation and the room was quite lively with only Hunter and Mrs. Phillips talking. The father and daughter were only focused on eating. After the meal, Claire followed her father to the study.
"I hope you are not lying to me about this boyfriend of yours."
"What makes you think that I am lying to you?"
"I don't know." Mr. Phillips looked at her straight in the eye and the only thing that he saw was coldness in his daughter's eyes. "I'll try believing you for now. go and call him here. I need to have a word or two with him."
"Don't try to intimidate him father."
"If you don't believe me then you can stand outside the door."
Claire walked to the living room and found her mother and Hunter chatting happily. A slight smile appeared on her mouth, and it vanished as soon as it appeared.
"Father wants to speak to him mom, "
"Go and tell him that I am still speaking to him. "
"Mom?"
"Let me just go once I am done; I will come back and talk to you.'
Hunter followed Claire to the study.
"Whatever my dad asks you just answer it, if you can't just don't answer. "
"Ok."
Hunter got in the study. Mr.Phillips looked at him for some time then poured him some tea.
"I am not sure if both you and Claire are lying to me, I just hope whatever you guys have is true. if it is true, then please, don't hurt my daugher."
"I promise I won't hurt her. Can we talk about something different?"
"Yes."
"I see you more of a role model, I majored in business but became a programmer."
"Why didn't you start up a business then?"
"Maybe fate had it for me to meet up my future wife so I can help her with the business."
They talked for a long time.
