Iris
The healers words remained in my head even as I went to sleep that night and when I woke up the next day. My head ached so much from thinking all through the night.
Instead of waiting on Carina, I decided to go down by myself. I noticed something different the moment I stepped into the dining hall.Something had changed.
At first I thought I was imagining things. After all, the past few days had been overwhelming. The attack, the strange changes happening to my body.
The healer's warnings and the endless whispers or perhaps it was simply exhaustion making me think far.
But as breakfast continued, I realized I wasn't imagining anything at all. The servants were acting differently. They were not being dramatic about it but it was enough for anyone else to notice. Or maybe it was because I had a keen eye for observation.
When I reached for a cup of tea, a servant hurried forward before I could pour it myself. When I thanked him, he nearly dropped the kettle.
