Danny and his family have finished setting up for the party. All the dangerous stuff like ectoplasm and weaponry, as well as any other inventions, were put away in the lab, which was cleaned as well with the portal shut off and locked so it wouldn't hurt anyone. The weapons vault was also locked with all the weapons disabled as a precaution. Danny was double checking everything when the doorbell rang.
-
"I'll get it." Maddie said as she went to the front door. She opened the door to find the Possibles. "Hello Ann, James, Kim, and who are the younger ones?" Maddie asked.
-
"I'm Jim." The green twin introduced himself.
-
"And I'm Tim." The red twin introduced himself.
-
"Pleased to meet you ma'am." The twins said in unison.
-
"Pleased to meet you as well. I'm Maddie. Come in, come in." Maddie moved aside to let the Possible Family in the building.
-
"Thank you for having us." James said to Maddie as he passed her.
-
"Thank you for coming. It's nice to have you." Maddie said to James.
-
"Yes it is!" Boomed Jack as he came to greet the guests. "It almost feels like the old days in college." He said as he patted James on the back.
-
"Yep. You're still as heavy handed as you were then." James said as he stretched his back.
-
"Really? I knew mom and Mrs. Fenton went to college together, but you and Mr. Fenton went to college together as well?" Kim asked her father.
-
"Yes, but this was before he found himself in the paranormal sciences." James said to his daughter. "I still can't believe that you were successful in that field." He said.
-
"Yeah, are you gonna show us your inventions?" Jim asked.
-
"I'm more interested in the ghosts." Tim said. "Where's the ghost dog?" He asked.
-
"His name is Cujo and he is in the living room." Danny said as he walked in to greet the Possibles. "We're not going to be showing the inventions at this time, because Kim has told us about your tendency to meddle with tech." He said to Jim's upset face.
-
"That's a good call." Ann nodded at what Danny said. "We don't want you two getting hurt from messing with their weapons."
-
"Weapons?" The twins exclaimed in unison.
-
"I thought you had ghosts working for you?" Jim asked.
-
"Why would you have weapons to hunt ghosts?" Tim asked.
-
"We recently had a change of heart on how we see ghosts and it started with Danny bringing home Scylla and Charybdis earlier this week." Maddie told the twins. "We then got an interview with the high school ghost, Sidney, who's then backed by Phantom, who is a protector spirit. He got us to see that there are plenty of good ghosts and how we can keep our weapons from hurting them by scanning their ectoplasmic signature." Maddie explained to the Possibles.
-
"You're still gonna get us their autographs, right Danny?" Tim asked.
-
"I'll get them to you before the end of the next week." Danny told the twins.
-
"Aren't they the ones who stole your missions, Kimmie?" James asked his daughter.
-
"Yes, but they were about ghosts anyways, so I couldn't have done anything anyway." Kim shrugged. "It would help if I could work at Fenton Works." She said, looking between her parents and the Fentons.
-
"We're still thinking about it." Both of Kim's parents said in unison.
-
"We need to talk with the Fentons about that." Ann said to her daughter.
-
"That's convenient. We were hoping to talk to you about the missions she takes. Danny went on a few with her, they didn't leave the country, but we were wondering how you deal with that. If Danny continues to go on missions with her, as I'm sure he will." Maddie said as she led the group into the living room. Cujo was gnawing on his toy on the couch.
-
"So that's a ghost dog?" James said, staring at Cujo with wide eyes.
-
"Yeah, he wanted to stay with Danny after we got to Axiom Labs, don't know why he didn't stay with Phantom." Kim said, looking at Danny as she said that.
-
"I don't know either, maybe I just have a nice aura." Danny shrugged as he petted Cujo.
-
"Where are the two ghost octopi?" Ann asked the half dead boy.
-
Scylla and Charybdis went into the visible spectrum and floated to Danny's shoulders. They waved a couple of their tentacles in greeting. "Hello." They said in unison.
-
"Hello, I didn't know they could talk." Ann said as she waved to the ectopi.
-
"Yeah, they can talk. Also, the correct term is 'Ectopi'. That's what Sidney said anyway." Danny told Ann. Cujo discarded his toy to run around with Jim and Tim.
-
"That's a bit convenient, don't you think?" James asked.
-
"Well, Sidney was once human, as well as many other ghosts. Convenience is gonna happen eventually." Danny told James, who nodded at the logic.
-
"So things where the ghosts are from just call things with a play on words?" Jim asked
-
"The ghosts do. I'm sure the spirits call them different things that are original." Danny responded.
-
"Aren't spirits the same as ghosts?" Tim asked.
-
"No, ghosts are the manifestations of living souls, while spirits are born in the Infinite Realms." Jazz told the red twin.
-
"The infinite Realms? What's that?" Ann asked
-
"It is the place where Ghosts and Spirits reside when not walking about the city." Jack said to Ann. "We made a portal there in our lab. It's turned off right now, for safety." He said to the twins, who looked excited.
-
"That's probably for the best. I remember what happened to Vlad and the Proto-Portal." Ann said. "Though I would like to see it once without the kids." She said to the groans of the twins.
-
"Come on, Mom!" Jim exclaimed.
-
"We just want to see the portal to the afterlife." Tim said to his mother.
-
"Maybe another time when we have more safety features." Maddie said as she was seeing Jack start to fold. "We already had one accident, and we don't want another one." Maddie said to the twins.
-
"What kind of accident?" James asked.
-
"The portal wouldn't work at first and I turned it on by messing with some wires. They electrocuted me and that's it." Danny said to James. "There was nothing lasting except for the Lichtenberg figures. I think it has to do with the portal tech." He explained to the Possibles.
-
"We were planning on dismantling the portal and rebuilding it with better safety measures." Jack said. "This party was a good excuse to shut it down. "Phantom can open his own portals, so there isn't a hurry to reactivate the portal anytime soon." He said.
-
"Ooh, I think Ron mentioned that there was a mechanic ghost that joined Phantom on the Axiom mission." Kim said. "Maybe he can help if he's working with Phantom." She said to the Fentons.
-
"That might be a good idea. Ghosts know the importance of death so they might know more about safety measures." Maddie thought aloud.
-
"Safety measures are important." Ann said to her old friend. "Don't want any ghosts to come out of improper lab safety." She told the Fentons, who all nodded.
-
"Hey Kim, didn't you have something to say during the dinner party?" Jim asked his older sister.
-
"Yeah, Danny even gave you permission." Tim said. The Fentons looked between the twins and Danny before settling on Kim.
-
"Well, uh, there was something that happened during our time testing one of Wade's inventions." Kim said to her parents. "Danny's ectopi sensed something in the mountain and took Danny and I up there." She started to explain. "We found what they were sensing and from what they translated on a pedestal, I was involved with what we found and when I pulled it out, well." Kim showed her wrists and displayed her tattoos of the gauntlets she last had on before leaving for Axiom. "I have a video of me pulling out the artifact if you don't believe me." She demonstrated summoning the gauntlets to her hands.
-
"I will take full responsibility for what happened. It was my ectopi that led us to the artifact." Danny said before either of the Possible parents could say anything. "If you're gonna be mad, be mad at me for taking your daughter to the artifact." He said as he stood next to Kim.
-
"Just show us the video." James said in a stressed voice.
-
"I got this, Kim." Creos said as they flew out of Kim's pocket and flew in front of the Possible parents. "I'm Creos, the guiding spirit tied to the Blade of Velgalta. I am trapped in this communicator and can help Kim with her using her weapon. These gauntlets can shoot lasers like a ghost or spirit can as well as make an energy wall that can block other energies." They said before showing them the video Danny took.
-
After the video ended, Creos flew back to Kim's pocket. "Uh, Thank you Creos." Ann said.
-
"Why did you let go after the wind started swirling around you?" James asked his daughter.
-
"It's not like I could have let go. Pulling it out was the only thing that I could do." Kim told her father. "Energy went into my arm when I grabbed onto it. It'll help me stop ghosts that I encounter in and outside of town." She told her parents.
-
"Yeah, we faced like three ghosts in town, two of which were in school, and at least one ghost outside of town." Danny told Kim's parents. "Although, I think Skulker was a spirit." He added unnecessarily. Scylla and Charybdis grew behind Danny and Kim as he spoke.
-
"Are those two trying to intimidate us?" Ann asked Danny.
-
Danny turned around to see the grown ectopi. "I don't know, I didn't tell them to do this. Don't mind them, they won't do anything until I say something." Danny told Ann and James. "They're usually more well behaved." He said as he turned back to face the Possible parents.
-
"Well, we're not mad about the tattoo, we're not happy about it, but we're not mad." James said to his daughter.
-
"Yes. At least we know you'll be protected against ghosts and other paranormal entities, if they exist." Ann said, looking at the Fenton parents.
-
"We haven't proven the existence of anything else, although, I think we were close to the reveal of dragon people." Jack told the Possible parents. "If they're anything like ghosts, there's a hero out there protecting them, just better at it than Phantom at keeping them secret." He said, looking between all of his family present.
-
"You're the one who ripped a hole in the universe." Danny told his father. "Assuming the Infinite Realms are their own universe." He added on.
-
"Should we start dinner or should Kim demonstrate what the Blade of Velgalta can do?" Jazz asked the group.
-
"We want to see what the Blade can do!" The twins exclaimed in unison.
-
"It probably will be all that can be shown of what our weapons can do." Maddie said. "We make weapons to match a ghost's or spirits' blasts, but I would like to examine the energy wall feature. We haven't figured out how to do that, can it keep ghosts out?" Maddie asked.
-
Creos flew back out of Kim's pocket and in front of Maddie. "Not in this form. Maybe in another form of the Blade." They said, "Should I just stay out to answer any questions now?"
-
"Probably." Said the whole group in unison.
-
"Okay then." Creos said. "Just to let you know, I won't know what powers each form will have until she makes it into that form." They said before anyone could ask anything.
-
"So, Kim just needs to make it change forms-" Jim started.
-
"- and you'll know what special powers it will have?" Tim finished the question.
-
"What if she turned it into a watering can?" Jack asked, everyone looked at him in confusion. "What? It's a valid question in this situation." He said.
-
"She could turn it into a watering can, there's no limit to what it can change into." Creos backed Jack up by flying next to him.
-
"How about I turn it into a watering can and we can see what it can do." Kim said as she clasped her hands together and closed her eyes. There was a bright light and when it ended, there was a watering can in her hands. "Now, what can a watering can do?" She asked Creos.
-
"The watering can release unlimited amounts of water that can grow plants and heal ghosts with nature cores." Creos said to the group.
-
"Doesn't Phantom have a Nature Core?" Jazz asked no one in particular.
-
"No idea. We should ask him next time we see him." Danny answered Jazz's question. Jazz sent him a quick glare. Danny just smiled.
-
"What about a hammer?" Jim suggested.
-
"Or a computer?" Tim suggested.
-
"A computer could be interesting." Kim said as she wrapped her hands around the watering can and closed her eyes, the can glowed and turned into a laptop.
-
"This will allow you to scan all ghosts and spirits in the immediate vicinity as well as get limited information of all the Infinite Realms. Impressive and useful for working for Fenton Works." Creos said, trying to help Kim get the job.
-
"It definitely would be." Maddie said.
-
"Now try the hammer." Jim persisted.
-
"Okay, okay." Kim said as she closed her eyes and materialized the hammer in her hands.
-
"This form will, when smashed on the ground, will immobilize anyone in a 100 feet radius." Creos informed. "You should be able to choose who is immune to the effects." They added.
-
"Why don't you try a map or gps?" Danny suggested.
-
"Why a map?" Kim asked the half dead boy.
-
"If a computer could give out information of all the Infinite Realms, then a map should show all of the Realms, right?" Danny tried to explain his suggestion.
-
"Let's try a GPS first." Kim said, closing her eyes and the bright light enveloped the hammer and turned into a GPS the size of the communicator.
-
"This form will tell you where natural portals are formed and the time and place they will take you, both in the living world and in the Infinite Realms." Creos said, sounding impressed. "That could be helpful, Ghosts and Spirits have to be careful about natural portals because you never know where they'll take you, and you never know how long they'll last." They explained to the group.
-
"So that explains the time travel then." Danny said with a chuckle.
-
"I guess it does. At least we know it's a power of mine." Kim said.
-
"Time travel? What are you talking about?" Ann asked the two teenagers.
-
Danny and Kim looked at each other. "How do you think the maker of the weapon knew about Kim?" Danny asked Kim's mother. "Kim was panicking a little about that earlier when she first got the tattoo. Along with your reaction to it." He said quickly, getting slapped on the shoulder by Kim.
-
"Sorry about that Kimmy-cub." James apologized, upset that Kim worried about telling him something.
-
"It's no big. Danny and Ron helped me through that." Kim told her father. "Anyway, let's check out the map." She said as her hands wrapped around the gps and turned it into a map.
-
"Danny was right to mention the map. It does show the entirety of the realms and can drag anyone holding onto it to any destination in the Infinite Realms. Maybe if you can combine it with the GPS, it could emulate the Infimap." Creos explained to the group.
-
"What's the Infimap?" Danny asked, immensely curious.
-
"It's an artifact of greatest importance to the Yetis. They keep it so protected that it has become mere legend to modern ghosts and spirits." Creos told Danny before floating towards Kim and speaking in Gholric. "You better keep him. He's smart." Kim and Danny blushed and the other Fentons held back their snickers.
-
"What'd they say?" James asked.
-
"Nothing important." Both Kim and Danny said in unison.
-
"Yeah, they're right. It wasn't that important. Just saying that Danny was smart for suggesting the map." Jack said, not wanting to spill the secret of Danny and Kim's apparent crush on each other.
-
"If it was nothing, why are they blushing?" James asked, starting to be a little annoyed.
-
"I don't take praise lightly." Danny said to Kim's father.
-
"Creos was just a little too close when they said that." Kim told her father. Not wanting to freak her father out.
-
"Apologies Kim. I'll keep that in mind." Creos said as they backed up from Kim, despite knowing it was a lie. "Let's try some more apparel. Why not some goggles?" They suggested the idea to Kim.
-
"Okay, let's try that." Kim said as she closed her eyes and placed the map over her eyes. The light turned it into goggles and wrapped them around Kim's head. "Woah, that's weird." She said as she opened her eyes.
-
"This form will show you anyone and anything with an ectoplasmic signature. Which should be all the Fentons. They are surrounded by so much ectoplasm that it seeped into their bodies. It shouldn't hurt them, or have any issues that ghosts have, but it may have some benefits." Creos said to the group, adding the end part to reassure the Fentons.
-
"What kind of benefits?" Jazz asked the spirit in the communicator.
-
"Enhanced strength, speed, flexibility, memory, you may also get to speak Gholric, which all of you can do, apparently." Creos told Jazz.
-
"Awesome!" Jack exclaimed, punching the air.
-
"So we're a family of superhumans? That is indeed awesome." Maddie said with a smile on her face.
-
"That is really cool, but are there any known detriments to us being ecto-contaminated?" Jazz asked, annoyed that she was the only one with concerns.
-
"You may be allergic to blood blossoms." Creos told Jazz. "But those went extinct before my creator made me and the Blade." They said.
-
"That's good to know." Jazz said, relieved to hear that her family wasn't in any immediate danger.
-
The Kimmunicator beeped and Wade popped on the screen. "Kim, there's a mission. Can you skip dinner?" He asked.
-
"We're already at the party, Wade." James said to the computer kid.
-
"Yeah. Maybe you all can talk about what you want to talk about while we go on the mission?" Danny suggested.
-
The four parents looked at each other and had an unspoken conversation before nodding. "Yeah, you can go." They said to the duo.
-
"Awesome, I'll call Ron." Wade said before he hung up.
-
"We can ride one of the ectopi to your house to get your mission clothes." Danny said as he and Kim ran out of the house.
-
"That will work." Kim told the half dead boy.
-
"Scylla, go and get Ron." Danny told the silver ectopi and she went off to do her task. Danny and Kim ducked into an abandoned alley and hopped on a growing Charybdis. "When there's a break in school, we should totally do a time travel road trip." Danny joked to Kim as Charybdis sped to Kim's house.
-
"Yeah, that could be fun. But we would have to test it out before then. Maybe tomorrow?" Kim asked.
-
"It's a date." Danny smiled at her, before realizing what he said. "I, uh, mean it's a date on the calendar, not a date as in a 'date' date. Sorry if I was not clear on that." He rambled before shutting himself up.
-
"I wouldn't mind if it was." Kim muttered before clamping her hand on her mouth.
-
"Are you asking me out on a 'date' date?" Danny asked Kim with a massive blush on his face.
-
"What if I was?" Kim asked the half dead boy.
-
"Then I would be upset that I missed my chance to ask you out to the homecoming dance." Danny told his crush. "Jazz said it was going to be announced Monday in the morning announcements." He told her.
-
"She knows when the dance is?" Kim asked, curious about the dance herself. "And why would you ask me the first day it was announced?" She asked.
-
"Jazz is part of the student council, and she said that people would start asking people on the day of, for outfit planning." Danny told Kim as Charybdis lowered down into an alley close to Kim's house.
-
"That works for me." Kim said as Charybdis shrunk back down and they got off of them. "Where do you want to go for our first date? Or when?" Kim asked with a chuckle.
-
"It's your artifact, you decide." Danny deflected. "I can't really think about when would be a good first date, it would be my first one ever." He revealed as they started to walk to Kim's house.
-
"How about the unveiling of the Eiffel Tower?" Kim suggested. "Or is that a bit much for a first date?" She asked.
-
"Maybe for valentines day? But a world's fair sounds fun." Danny told her.
-
"Why not the New York's world's fair in 1939? It had nearly 45 million people there, so our presence won't change anything." Kim suggested.
-
"The world of tomorrow? Sounds fun. And it goes from the end of April to the end of October the next year. Plenty of time for us to be there. It's definitely a smart choice." Danny agreed with her choice.
-
Kim smiled at Danny's words. "Thanks, I try." She giggled. Danny and Kim arrived at her house and Kim opened the door for Danny.
-
"I'd rather stay out here. If we're gonna be boyfriend and girlfriend, I don't think being alone in your house while you change clothes is a good idea." Danny said and Kim nodded at the logic. "If it's gonna happen, I'd rather it be with supervision. Just to be on the safe side." Kim nodded again and walked inside.
-
Creos flew out of Kim's pocket and floated next to Danny. "I'll keep him company." They said as Danny grabbed hold of them from the air.
-
"I'm fine with that. They are someone to talk to." Danny said to a closed door.
-
"I think asking her out for the dance was a good idea, it would have certainly been smart for the outfit planning." Creos said to the halfa. "Were you actually gonna do it?" They asked.
-
"If I could get past my anxiety. Thankfully, Kim decided to do it. I can't wait to go to the 1939 World's Fair." Danny told Creos in his hands. "The World of Tomorrow sounds fun."
-
"I'll bet. Maybe you could go to ancient Greece. Meet other halfas and all that." Creos suggested to the half ghost boy.
-
"Maybe for a personal trip with Kim. I don't think it would be a good idea to ask Kim to go there for a first date." Danny told the spirit in the communicator.
-
"I'm not saying to use a date to go searching for them, just as a random trip" Creos told Danny.
-
"What random trip?" Kim asked as she opened the door.
-
"Creos wants us to go searching for other halfas through history." Danny answered Kim.
-
"That does sound fun. Maybe during one of our school breaks." Kim said as she locked the front door. Creos flew back to Kim's pocket, before Kim pulled them back out. "I'm calling Wade for information about the mission." She told Creos.
-
"Scylla's pulling up now. Let's go meet with her and Ron." Danny said and they went to the alley where Scylla and Ron were waiting for them.
-
Kim pulled Wade up on the communicator. "What's the sitch, Wade?"
-
"An archeologist by the name of Monty Fisk is asking for your help retrieving an artifact called 'The Jade Monkey'. I looked into it and found that it could be spiritual in nature if you complete the set." Wade told Kim and Danny.
-
"Glad I have a set of goggles that can see ectoplasmic signatures." Kim said to the computer boy. "Do we let him have it?" She asked Danny.
-
"I don't know. It might just be a regular statue. We won't know until we get a hold of it." Danny told the two others. "I don't see the harm in letting Monty Fisk have the monkey. It could be harmless." He said as they neared the alley with Scylla and Ron.
-
"You're probably right. If it's so old, it probably lost any energy if it had any." Wade said from the communicator.
-
"We'll just have to do the mission and decide then. Where's our ride and where are we going?" Kim asked the computer kid.
-
"You're going to Cambodia and you're riding with Colonel Jerkin in a military plane." Wade said as Danny and Kim made their way in the alley with Scylla and Ron.
-
"So we're going to Cambodia then? Right on." Ron said as he overheard what Wade said. "Also, Danny, you need to warn me when you send Scylla or Charybdis. She whispered in my ear about a mission before Wade called me." He told the ghost boy.
-
"Sure, next time I'll text you when I send one of them." Danny told the blond human.
-
"You better." Ron said as he got back onto Scylla, this time with Danny and Kim. "Where are we meeting Colonel Jerkin?"
-
"You're meeting him at Fort Middleton airfield. The Colonel will meet you there." Wade told the trio of heroes.
-
"Okay, how do we get there? I don't want to reveal Scylla and Charybdis to military people." Danny said even though Scylla was already going up into the air invisibly.
-
"Check your communicator." Wade said and Danny pulled it out and saw the directions to an alley not far from the airfield.
-
"Thanks Wade. This'll help." Danny told the computer boy. Danny sent the information to Scylla, and she flew off in that direction. "Ooh, Kim, you should try to make a wallet with the Blade. Maybe it can give you infinite money." Danny suggested as it came into mind.
-
"So I take it that the reveal of the weapon tattoo went well?" Ron asked the duo.
-
"More or less." Kim said as she closed her eyes and turned the goggles tattoo into a wallet in her hand. "What does this form do? Was Danny right?" Kim asked Creos.
-
"Almost, while he was right about the infinite money, it can also give you any type of money you desire. Perfect for your time dates, don't you think?" Creos said in a teasing tone. Both Kim and Danny blushed.
-
"So you two finally realized your crushes on each other." Ron said. "Who asked who?" He asked the now couple.
-
Both Danny and Kim were speechless as Ron knew about their crushes, so Creos spoke up. "Kim did it in a roundabout way. They are planning on going on a time date tomorrow." Ron was smiling.
-
"When did you find out about my crush on him?" Kim asked her best friend.
-
"I finally realized it in the junkyard when you were panicking about the tattoo and how you seemed to calm down when Danny held you, but not when I tried to help." Ron explained. "I didn't expect that you two would get together so soon after I realized it. I thought it would be a few days more." He said.
-
"I was planning on asking her out on Monday or Tuesday for the Homecoming dance." Danny revealed to the blond hero.
-
"Oh, that makes sense. How do you know when the dance is?" Ron asked.
-
"Jazz is part of the student council and told me the dance will be the week after next." Danny told Ron.
-
"Right on." Ron said as he leaned back on his hands. "So, how are you going on 'Time Dates'? That's what Creos said, right?" He asked the couple.
-
"Right, you weren't with us at the dinner party. Danny suggested turning the Blade into a GPS and a Map, not at the same time, and the GPS can find natural portals that can go to different times in the timeline. They are random and don't last long so it is a good transformation for the Blade to have." Kim explained.
-
"So you think that's how you met the halfa that made the Blade?" Ron asked and Kim nodded.
-
"Creos did suggest going to ancient Greece to look for halfas through history." Danny told the blonde boy.
-
"That sounds fun. When do you plan on going?" Ron asked the couple.
-
"We were thinking of making it a road trip type of thing. You can come with us. It would probably be during one of our breaks from school." Kim said to her best friend.
-
"Would it last the break, or just be a day or so in real time?" Ron asked, curious about the specifics of the time travel.
-
"That's why we're gonna test it out tomorrow with our time date." Kim said.
-
"Yeah, they're going to the World's Fair in 1939 New York." Creos told the blond human.
-
"Speaking of, Wade, while we're doing the mission, could you make a file for us about everything that had happened during that time frame, so we don't mess with the timeline? Also, some mention of attractions and stalls would be fun as well." Danny asked Wade on his communicator.
-
"Already started, it should be compiled before you leave for your date." Wade said as he popped on the screen. "You're nearing the airfield, so I would recommend lowering into an alley that I showed you." He told the group and Scylla did just that.
-
"Do you think the communicators will work in 1939?" Ron asked.
-
"As long as they are charged, they should be fine. It's not like we would need to consult Wade during our date if we don't have to do hero work." Kim told her best friend as Scylla landed in an alley and started shrinking.
-
"Besides, maybe the Blade could make a time travel phone that we could use in emergencies." Danny suggested. "You never know, ghosts could go through any random portal, and we would need to fight them." He told his now girlfriend as they walked out of the alley.
-
"I guess that makes sense. I hope it doesn't happen though." Kim said as they walked side by side to the airfield.
-
"I doubt it would." Creos spoke up. "Ghosts don't tend to go through natural portals because of the randomness of the portals." They said as they floated in front of the group.
+=
The parents Fenton and Possible watched their kids run out of the door of Fenton Works shortly after giving them permission to skip the dinner party. The group that stayed behind went to the table to eat and the Fentons started passing out the food.
-
"Are we gonna talk about how they obviously have crushes on each other?" Jim asked.
-
"Yeah, Kim almost couldn't take her eyes off of Danny and Danny quickly stood to defend her when she told us about the tattoo." Tim said. "He even had his Ectopi ready to protect her." He said.
-
"Well, we weren't going to, but I guess we will." Ann said to her youngest children. "Kim did speak a lot about him Wednesday, so much that I just had to bring her here to see him for myself." She said.
-
"I don't think Kimmy needs a boyfriend. She can do anything herself." James said, a little angry at the topic.
-
"Danny's not going to make her stop or help where he's not wanted." Maddie tried to defend her son. "Kim may not need anyone to do anything FOR her, but she doesn't need to have that stop her from getting a boyfriend." She said.
-
"Maddie's right, James. Kim deserves to have someone, and I think Danny is a good person for her." Ann told her husband. "She could certainly do worse."
-
"She could definitely do worse." Jazz spoke up. "I know I'm biased, but Danny is one of the few decent guys at school. There's plenty that will feel emasculated that she fights supervillains and will try to make her choose between them or heroing." Jazz explained. "I know I have dealt with that." She said, getting sad looks from her parents.
-
"Besides, Danny looks like Kim could break his body in less than a second." Jim said.
-
"He may look like that, but he caught one of our rockets bare handed." Tim reminded his twin. "So, he's not as weak as he looks." He said.
-
"That's probably the Fenton Strength." Jack laughed at hearing his son's feat of strength.
-
"That or the ecto-contamination that Creos said was in all of us." Jazz told her father. "That could explain it just as much as the so-called 'Fenton Strength'." She said as she took a bite of her food.
-
"When can we go see the portal?" Jim asked, changing the subject.
-
"Yeah, or any of your tech?" Tim asked, joining his brother in changing the subject.
-
"When we completely remodel it to reach proper safety standards." Jack said as he stabbed his food out of habit. "We don't want another accident like the one Danny had." He said as he took a bite of his food.
-
"Speaking of the accident, Lichtenberg Scars fade after a day or two, how long has it been since the accident?" Ann asked, her medical sense going off.
-
"About a month now, maybe a week more. Like Danny said, it was probably the ectoplasm in the portal." Jazz told Ann. "We didn't ask Kim about what our ectoplasmic signatures looked like when she had the goggles on." She said to the brain surgeon.
-
"So, he's probably stuck with those for the rest of his life?" Jim asked.
-
"Cool!" Tim exclaimed.
-
"They'll probably fade after a year or so, I think that's how long it took for Vlad to recover from his accident with the proto-portal. I still regret it, but he shouldn't have been so close to the portal when we turned it on." Maddie said with tears in her eyes. Jack patted her shoulder.
-
"So you had another portal accident before Danny's?" Jim asked.
-
"Are you sure you should even rebuild your own portal even with the safety measures?" Tim asked, scared for Danny.
-
"I think so, before , we were so focused on making the portal that safety was second to it. Now that we know it works, we can rebuild it with the right safety procedures in place." Maddie said. "Danny's the one to tell us we should keep it for the good ghosts to have a portal to visit the human world. And since he was the one affected by the portal, we'll listen to him." She said, telling a small lie. Danny was fine with rebuilding the portal, but he didn't explicitly tell them to.
-
"Besides, we need a portal for Phantom to release all the bad ghosts and spirits into. He can only make portals to places he's been before, and he doesn't want to send bad ghosts to his friends' realms." Jack told the twins.
-
"Okay, I guess that makes sense." The twins said in unison.
-
"Yeah, Phantom told us that there was an artifact that can open small rifts to empty spaces in the Infinite Realms that he would try to get for us for one of our inventions." Maddie said to the four Possibles.
-
"We were already close to something like that, but it would be good to have ghostly artifacts melded with our tech to make it seem more friendly to ghosts and spirits." Jack told the Possibles.
-
"That sounds like a good idea. I still can't believe you're the same person who believed that all ghosts were evil. What changed?" Ann asked her old friend.
-
"Danny did. He made something of a campaign to make them realize that not all ghosts were bad." Jazz spoke up. "He was making progress, making them think that there were good ghosts, but then they thought only bad ghosts came out of the Realms until Danny came home with Scylla and Charybdis." She explained to the brain surgeon.
-
"So Danny is responsible for changing your composure towards ghosts?" James asked.
-
"Yes. He even introduced us to some good ghosts, including Phantom, which is how he got to work with us." Maddie said.
-
"That's nice to hear that he didn't inherit your obsession with hunting and eradicating all ghosts." Ann chuckled.
-
"Yeah, especially about Phantom. On the way here, we found some videos online about him saving people from a burning building." Jim told the group.
-
"I still don't believe that people would record something after they underwent something traumatic." Jazz spoke up. "I mean, they were just about to burn alive, and they decided to record what was burning them." She said in an exasperated tone.
-
"Yeah, I read an article that said it was a major arsonist that started the fire, he called himself Kelvin Furnace. Phantom froze him solidly long enough for the police to put a power dampening collar on him." Tim said as he pulled out his phone.
-
"Kelvin? I think I remember someone by that name. He left school a few months before the end of the year last year. I tutored him." Jazz said, upset about hearing someone from her age group becoming an arsonist.
-
"You don't know it was the same boy." Jack tried to comfort his daughter.
-
"I wonder why Kim didn't get a call about that." James pondered aloud.
-
"Probably because by the time she got there, the firemen would have everything handled." Ann told her husband. "It was a burning building, not exactly her forte." She told James.
-
"You're right." James relented for his wife. "Now, Kim wanted to join your work as a means to get money, are you even able to pay her? I don't think there's a lot of demand for ghost hunters." James brought up one of the topics his daughter wanted them to talk about.
-
"We make more than just ghost hunting tech. We even have some contracts for some of our inventions." Maddie told the rocket scientist. "We make half a million per month and that's not even talking about our contracts. How do you think we can afford the command center on the roof?" She asked rhetorically.
-
"Ooh, can we go see the command center?" Jim asked.
-
"Yeah, can we?" Tim joined in.
-
"Maybe later after everyone is done eating. All the controls are locked up there so no one can fly it away." Jack told the twins, who got excited at hearing that it could fly.
-
"And why, pray tell, can the command center fly?" James asked Jack.
-
"Our thought process when we built it was so we can chase after ghosts after they take to the skies." Maddie said, embarrassed.
-
"Yeah, at first, it's a blimp, then it can become a high powered jet with a full autopilot." Jack spoke up. "We are not going on a flight anytime soon though." He told the excited twins, who looked upset at Jack's words.
-
"You built a jet to hunt ghosts?" Ann asked, incredulous at her old friends' minds.
-
"It felt like a good idea when we were building it. Ghosts are really fast." Maddie said, scratching the back of her head in embarrassment.
-
"That's impressive, you'll have to show me the schematics one of these days." James said. He and Ann looked at each other and nodded. "If you pay her fairly well, Kim can work for you."
-
"As long as you take the safety measures seriously." Ann added. "Now, you wanted to know about the rules we set for Kim and her missions?" She asked the Fenton parents.
-
"Yes. As we saw earlier, Danny is going to go on missions whether we want him to or not. We trust that he won't let himself get over his head, but we wanted to know what you thought of all Kim's hero work." Jack said to the Possible parents.
-
"All the rules about her going on missions is that she doesn't get in over her head and that she keeps her grade up. That's all we really make sure Kim knows about her ability to do missions during school. She usually has her homework sent home so she can complete it before school. She hasn't let her grades slip once." Ann explained to Maddie and Jack.
-
"As for what we think about her missions, they can get pretty dangerous and we worry about her all the time, but we trust in her skills enough to still allow her to go out and save the world. Other than that, we treat her as if she was a normal teenage girl." James said to Jack and Maddie.
-
"Even when she leaves the country?" Maddie asked.
-
"Yes. She leaves the country a lot. She always has her own ride, so she doesn't need a passport, though she does have one." Ann told her old friend.
-
"We all do as well, I hope Danny took his." Jack said in a worried tone.
-
"Danny always keeps his passport on him. He made it a habit, like when he grabs his wallet." Jazz informed her parents, who breathed in relief.
-
"That's good. I guess we can allow Danny to go on missions with Kim." Maddie said and Jack nodded at his wife.
-
"Now that that is out of the way, could we please see at least one of your inventions?" Jim asked, his plate half empty.
-
"Yeah, there has to be one invention that you can show us." Tim said, joining his brother as he practically begged to see an invention.
-
"Maybe we can show you the Specter Speeder." Jack told the twins. "That was the first invention we made that incorporated ghostly technology. It reminds me of the TARDIS from Doctor Who, with the 'bigger on the inside' technology." He told the Possibles.
-
"Where'd you get something like that?" James asked as a sci-fi nerd.
-
"Phantom brought us an exosuit of a spirit that was mostly technology." Maddie answered. "It also almost got him to not trust us." She started. "We were still new to being friendly with ghosts, so when we had what was essentially a ghost's body, we did what could have looked like dissection. We took all the innards out while they were still connected to the main body. We weren't even doing it in a manner that could be seen as taking machinery apart, just pure dissection." Maddie explained.
-
"Yeah, it took both Danny, Kim, and their friends to convince him to continue working with us." Jack said, finishing his plate. "We gave him a sincere apology and promised to do our studying in a more humane way, starting with just scanning ghosts and spirits for their ectoplasmic signatures." He told the other family, lying to protect his son's secret.
-
Jazz got a message on her phone and checked it. "Danny says they're going to Cambodia to help an archeologist." She told the group.
-
"Tell him thanks for letting us know." Maddie told her daughter, smiling that her son thought to send a message. She checked her own phone and found that he had sent a message to her as well. 'I probably shouldn't keep my phone on silent.' She thought to herself.
-
"Tell him thanks from us as well. Kim hardly ever tells us where she goes until she gets back." James said to Jazz, who nodded and went back to texting.
-
"Maybe we should make that a rule from now on? They would need to tell us where they are going on their missions." Ann suggested. "Danny doesn't seem to have trouble doing that." She said, indicating Jazz's phone.
-
"I was planning on making that a rule for Danny." Maddie agreed with Ann and both husbands nodded with their wives.
-
The rest of the time was spent in relative silence, everyone making some small talk with each other. The adults got seconds and the kids went into the living room to watch some tv. Jim and Tim were playing with Cujo between them. Jazz looked to see if the parents were paying attention before showing the twins her phone.
-
"Look what Danny sent along with the knowledge of going to Cambodia." Jazz said as she showed her phone to the twins. The message also included that Kim had asked him out on the way to her house and was asking advice for what to wear to a festival.
-
"Seriously!" The twins exclaimed in unison. "She did it first?" They also said in unison.
-
"Yeah, I was surprised as well. Danny was planning to ask her out on Monday or Tuesday for the school dance coming up." Jazz told them.
-
"I still can't believe she did it first." Jim said.
-
"Me neither." Tim agreed. "And what does he mean by festival?" He asked.
-
"My guess? They plan on going through time to have their first date. I'll ask Danny when he gets home." Jazz told the twins.
-
"Ask Danny what?" Maddie asked with a knowing smile on her face as the adults were standing behind her.
-
"Kim asked Danny out on a date after the mission." Jim said.
-
"We think they are gonna use her GPS to go on a time date to a festival." Tim said.
-
"Guys, I thought we were gonna keep it a secret until we can tease them about it?" Jazz asked the twins.
-
"Oh, we're still gonna do that." Jim said.
-
"We're just gonna do that with the parents knowing about it. " Tim said and both of the twins gave Jazz a big smile.
-
"Yeah, I knew about that when I saw the message he sent me." Maddie revealed. "I didn't think of the time travel idea." She admitted.
-
"Well, he won't hurt her, that's for sure." Ann said, trying to calm James down from the anger he was feeling.
-
"Obviously not. He has too much anxiety for that. He almost broke down just thinking about asking her out to the homecoming dance." Jazz told the adults. That seemed to calm James down, if only by a little.
-
"Kim really should tell us these things." Ann said as she pulled out her phone. She didn't see any messages.
-
"Maybe she wanted to tell you in person?" Jack asked. "Danny doesn't really have the social understanding of some things." He said. "I would want to tell my parents about a girlfriend of mine in person, maybe Kim is like that, plus it happened just after they left, give her time." He told the Possible parents.
-
"What do you know about social understanding?" Jazz asked her father. "We have a command center on the roof." She said.
-
"Speaking of the command center, do you two want to check that out first, or the Specter Speeder?" Jack asked the twins.
-
"The Specter Speeder!" The twins exclaimed in unison as they jumped off of the couch. Cujo was running around them, matching their excitement.
-
"Okay, then you two need to promise not to touch anything that we don't say is alright, because it is in the lab." Maddie told the twins.
-
"Understood." Jim said.
-
"Yeah, contrary to what Kim says about us, we don't go snooping at other people's houses." Tim said, crossing his arms across his chest.
-
"Good, because we already put all the more dangerous stuff in the weapons vault, so there isn't much to actually touch except the dismantled portal." Jack told the Possibles. "Danny was a big help with that, informing me about the dangerous wire placements we had inside the portal. He also made it as neat as he could while dismantling it for order." He said as he and his wife led the way to the lab.
-
"You had the kid who had the accident with the portal-" Jim started.
-
"-dismantle the portal?" Tim finished the question.
-
"Yeah. He said it was a bit therapeutic to do it. I wanted to help as best I could, but he quite enjoyed taking it down." Jack said.
-
"I'll bet." James spoke up. "He probably has mixed feelings about the portal and one of them being hatred." He said as the Fentons led him and his family to their lab.
-
"That's probably it. I hope he will help us with rebuilding it." Maddie said as she took off her glove to scan her hand to open the lab doors.
-
"Tell us again why you dismantled it?" Ann asked.
-
"It was mostly an excuse to improve it and make it safer after Danny had his accident." Maddie told her old friend. "But the decision on the forefront of our minds was so that none of you fell into the Infinite Realms. We haven't installed a lock on it yet since we haven't found the need until the beginning of this week." Maddie explained.
-
"Now, let's look at the Speeder." Jack said, changing the subject and getting the twins attention. The speeder looked white with some green accents and a glass semi-dome on the front of it. "It may not look much, but as we said, we used ghostly 'bigger on the inside' technology to make it more spacious for longer trips in the Realms, which we plan to take at some point." Jack explained as he pulled the keys from his pocket and opened the speeder's door.
-
The Fentons led the Possible group inside and the Possibles ooh'ed and ah'd at the size of the interior. The twins stayed near the group, even though they were itching to run around and look at everything close up. Cujo didn't have any such orders and ran inside to sniff around the entirety of the interior, shifting into his large form and barking happily.
-
"Woah, didn't know Cujo could do that. Why didn't Danny tell us about that?" Jazz asked.
-
"Maybe he didn't know?" Jim asked.
-
"When we arrived at Axiom, Cujo was already small when it jumped to Danny." Tim said. "Phantom didn't stick around long after defeating the ghost that broke into Axiom Labs." He told the group, who were staring at Cujo's large body.
-
"I guess that makes sense." Maddie said. "This place has more empty space for him to grow at the moment, so he probably wanted to stretch his legs." She surmised.
-
"Danny was also occupied with planning on how to ask Kim out to the Homecoming Dance." Jazz said. "Maybe he just forgot to tell us the ghost dog had special powers to look out for." She guessed.
-
"Ooh, they'll be able to match their outfits with the extra preparation time." Ann said excitedly.
-
James wasn't so excited and wanted to change the subject. "What's with the empty hooks on this wall?" He asked Jack.
-
"Those held weapons that we didn't want in reach of your children." Jack answered and James nodded.
-
"At least you're taking safety seriously now. Even if you still go overboard at times. My kids were right to say that they don't snoop at other people's houses." James told his old college friend.
-
"Better overboard than under-board. Right?" Jack asked. "Better to make sure safety is there no matter how crazy you seem. I just wish we thought about that before." He told his old college buddy.
-
"You're right, you should've treated safety as something that should be your first priority, especially since you live above your lab. That's probably why you all are ecto-contaminated, like Creos said." James told Jack.
-
"Phantom says the proper term is 'liminal'. We're liminal because we live above our lab." Jack corrected James, who shook his head.
-
"It doesn't matter what the correct term is, you risked your children's lives by not knowing what ectoplasm could do to the human body. You're lucky that your only detriment is an extinct flower that my daughter might encounter if she goes through with her time travel feature of the Blade of Velgalta. Do you even know what blood blossoms are? Because I don't." James said, rambling in worry for his daughter.
-
"I remember reading a section of my family texts mentioning Blood Blossoms during my family's stint in witch hunting." Jack told James. "I think it said it was a protection flower, but that is one sided to benefit humans. I don't know what it can do to a ghost at all, much less a liminal person." He said to the rocket scientist to calm him down.
-
"So our family has always been a part of the supernatural world?" Jazz asked, overhearing the conversation between the two fathers.
-
"Yeah, but most of the books are at your great grandfather's place. Maybe I can make a road trip out of visiting him." Jack pondered. "Anyways, I doubt Kim is going to encounter Blood Blossoms anytime soon, relatively speaking." He told the rocket scientist. "What with the time travel and all that." He added quickly.
-
"You're right, Jack. It's not like she's going to go look for trouble with her time travel power. I wonder how it works." James ponders.
-
"My guess is that they'll test it tomorrow with their time date." Jazz said. "I wonder what kind of festival they're going to." She pondered as she walked over to Cujo's giant body and started petting him. "Ooh, he's all fluffy like this." She exclaimed and put her face into Cujo's fur.
-
"Ooh, let us see!" The twins said in unison as they ran to Jazz and Cujo.
-
Cujo lowered his head and basically picked Jazz up with his head and slid her onto his back. Jazz righted herself quickly. "That was fun. Danny's missing out on this." She said as she laid back down on Cujo's back and hugged him. She pulled out her phone and took a selfie with Cujo's face next to her's. She then sent it to Danny telling him off about not telling them that Cujo could grow. Danny sent a message saying sorry and that it helped with his secret. Jazz sighed, knowing that she had to keep it for him.
-
"You're right!" Jim exclaimed, pushing his face into Cujo's neck.
-
"He's so fluffy!" Tim exclaimed, pushing his hand into Cujo's fur.
-
Ann and James looked on at the twins with a smile on their faces, glad that they are acting like regular children and not the geniuses they usually are.
-
"Okay kids, now let's go check out the command center." Jack boomed from the exit. "James, the schematics are up there as well, if you want to check them out." He told the rocket scientist.
-
"I'll gladly look at the schematics." James told Jack as he headed towards the large man. The others follow in tow. Cujo shrunk down fast, leaving Jazz falling onto the floor with a thud. Jazz grumbled a little as she picked herself up. She followed shortly behind everyone.
-
"I'm a little upset about not seeing the portal to the Infinite Realms." Jim said as the group made their way up from the lab.
-
"Yeah, I wanted to see a ghost come out of it." Tim said as Maddie re-locked the lab door.
-
"We haven't seen a ghost come out of the portal yet, so I don't think it'll be a regular occurrence." Jack said to the twins. "Phantom got us a database of all the ghosts and spirits in our area of the portal, if you want to check those out after we check out the command center." Jack informed the Possibles.
-
"That would be cool." Jim said.
-
"Very cool." Tim joined in with his brother.
-
"It would be interesting to know what kind of people Kim could go up against with her new weapon." Ann said with James nodding along with his wife.
-
"Then it's a good thing that we can access the database from the command center." Maddie told the Possibles. "We can go over it either after James goes through the schematics, or during. It's up to him." She said, looking at the rocket scientist.
-
"We can do it during. I can listen while looking over schematics at home, this shouldn't be that different." James said as they reached an elevator. They all got in the elevator, and it took them up to the command center.
-
The twins ran up to the windows and looked out over the roofs of the other buildings across the road. Cujo ran up to them and jumped up to see out of the windows as well. Jim picked Cujo up to help him look out of the window.
-
"Not as spacious as the Speeder, but it can hold all of the family if it needs to." Jack said as he went to get the schematics. "But we were planning on adding the ghost tech to this as well after we finalized the incorporation of ghostly artifacts in with our tech." He said as he handed the schematics to James, who laid them on the table in front of him.
-
"How fast can it go?" James asked.
-
"About as fast as a fighter jet at top speed. We're planning on making it faster with ghost tech, we already have plans in the works." Jack told the rocket scientist. "We haven't had the chance to measure the actual speed of this thing. We don't exactly have the room to do it." Jack told James.
-
"We don't want to risk blowing out everyone's windows when we blast off, that's why we have it as a blimp first." Maddie informed the group.
-
"Oh, I didn't know that actually, I just thought it was an eccentric thing." Jazz said, texting that to Danny in case he didn't know. "How far do we have to go to not blow the windows out of every building in town?" She asked her parents.
-
"About 60,000 feet off of the ground. That should give us enough height to go top speed." Maddie answered her daughter. "That's a little higher than what the average fighter jet flies, but that should be enough for us to operate the controls safely." She said as she went to a computer and started it up.
-
Jazz walked up behind her mother and bent down to whisper. "Do you think it's actually a good idea to show them the database?" She asked. "They are pretty smart and might find out Phantom's secret." She said, in case the twins were listening.
-
"What secret?" Ann asked, surprising Jazz.
-
"One that gave us a database of ghosts and spirits around our portal. We can't really say more than that without permission, sorry." Jazz told the brain surgeon.
-
"Right, sorry for prying. Are there that many bad ghosts and spirits in there?" Ann asked the two red head Fentons.
-
"We haven't actually gone through it in its completion either, but I would say so." Maddie told Ann as she pulled it up on the holo-screen. "It starts with 'The Box Ghost' which is the first bad ghost Danny had encountered. Sam, Jazz, and Kim encountered him as well when they were out shopping for clothes. He just controls boxes and has limited control over what is in the boxes in his control." She read aloud to the group.
-
"I added my encounter with him after I got home from it." Jazz told the families. "He was easy to take down with a single wrist blaster Sam had, luckily I had a thermos with me to capture him. We helped clean up after him and got a discount on what we bought." She explained.
-
"You give your son's friends weapons for ghosts, are they working for you as well?" James asked.
-
"Not officially yet. We weren't thinking of hiring anyone until Danny suggested Kim and Ron for a job." Maddie said as she pulled up the next file. "Let's continue with the files." She said to the group.
