The teacher walked into the classroom and began the first lesson, speaking slowly to the students, most of whom wore faint smiles.
"But the new semester has begun, and this term is very important for you."
"Students with insufficient credits should make the most of this last semester to earn enough, or they may not be able to enter college."
"Alright, enough chatter. Let's start class…"
"Wait, teacher!"
Just as the lesson was about to begin, a female student's voice came from the doorway.
"Being late on the first day of school is not a good sign, Stacy."
"I'm sorry, teacher. I won't do it again."
"Only this once. Go back to your seat."
Gwen strode into the classroom toward her seat, silently cursing: "If the bus driver this morning had been more attentive, I wouldn't have been late."
"Hmm? Peter Parker? Why is he sitting here?"
Gwen turned her head, surprised to see someone familiar sitting in the seat previously occupied by her disliked classmate, Flash.
"Good morning, Stacy."
"Good morning… Parker."
Gwen nervously greeted Peter, then sat in the seat in front of him, feeling a strange flutter of emotion.
Meanwhile, after greeting her, Peter closed his eyes again, basking in the sunlight streaming over him.
Attend class? Nonsense! Sunbathing was far more important.
"General, the air force and ground troops have completed assembly. Shall we launch the attack?"
"Alright, prepare to strike! This time, we will utterly destroy that green monster!"
Halfway through class, Peter, still enjoying the sunlight with his eyes closed, suddenly picked up a sound—thanks to his super-hearing, it immediately captured his attention.

Chapter 24: Human Weapons vs. The Hulk
Over 100 kilometers from downtown New York City.
A desolate, uninhabited area.
Countless massive stones rose like a natural stone forest, ordered yet chaotic in arrangement.
A narrow, deep valley cut straight through the stone forest, like an arrow piercing its heart.
The sun scorched the earth, turning it a parched yellow. In the valley's depths, rotting bones lay exposed.
I don't know if they're remnants of animals or some unlucky soul.
On the valley walls, a cave appeared almost artificial.
A disheveled middle-aged man with long hair and a scruffy beard—likely unbathed for months—was typing on a laptop, chatting online.
Although there was no network in the deep mountains… somehow, he had managed to connect a satellite phone to his computer.
Dr. Green: Can you really help me?
The unkempt man typed quickly; his laptop warned of low battery.
Lizard Enthusiast: I studied your case carefully. I must say—it's incredible.
"It's a miracle it survived such intense gamma radiation."
"Furthermore, after your exposure, your genes changed drastically. Two different species' DNA perfectly fused—that's why you became this monster."
"I've studied genetic modification extensively."
"Unfortunately, I don't have your current genetic samples. If I did, I could combine them with a gene serum I developed earlier and perhaps fix your condition."
Dr. Green: Gene therapy? What kind of therapy?
Hearing about a gene serum that could solve his problem, the scruffy man's eyes lit up with excitement.
Lizard Enthusiast: It's an interspecies genetic fusion drug. It can grant humans regenerative limb abilities.
Dr. Green: What? Interspecies gene fusion? You cracked the gene decay rate algorithm?
"Not yet. But if I could get your current genetic sample, I could integrate it into the algorithm and fully unlock the human genome's secrets."
"Then we could integrate powerful traits from various animals into humans. Humanity could achieve immortality and win the Nobel Prize…"
"All right, our chat's gone on too long. You'd better find a safe place to hide from those chasing you."
"And if you get the chance, come to New York. I'm at Oscorp Industries…"
The laptop battery died, screen going black.
"Go find him?"
The scruffy man remembered their chat exchange, pondering the odds of success.
"Yes. We'll find him!"
Suddenly, he seemed to make up his mind. He packed the laptop and other items, ready to leave.
Whizz… boom!
But as he reached the cave entrance, a high-speed missile streaked through the sky, landing not far ahead.
Boom!
He barely recognized the "Stark Industries" logo before the flames engulfed him.
The explosion's force and fire consumed him instantly.
The cave collapsed, burying him beneath rubble.
"Report, General! Target hit. Should we return to base?"
"Hmph. This attack will only enrage him further."
Several kilometers away, a uniformed elderly man with three silver stars on his epaulets sat in an armed helicopter, speaking calmly:
"Do not return. Maintain close surveillance of the area."
Roar!
A deafening sound echoed for miles.
A massive green monster, three to four meters tall, with rippling muscles, suddenly leaped from the underground cave.
"Understood, General… wait, it's still alive! Damn, it's the monster!"
The radio crackled with a frantic shout. General Ross realized his true target had appeared.
"It's finally here."
"All personnel, attention! Air and ground forces, prepare for battle! This time, we must destroy that monster completely!"
"I repeat, all units, commence attack immediately!"
Under Ross's command:
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Tank barrels spewed fire, hundreds of shells launched within seconds.
Whoosh…
Meanwhile, armored vehicles fired rockets into the sky.
Fsssh…
Fighter jets swooped in, each firing missiles at the towering green monster.
In an instant, attacks rained down like a tidal wave.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Explosions echoed through the stone forest and canyon.
Massive rocks shattered; canyon walls collapsed.
In under a minute, the once-majestic stone forest was obliterated.
The deep valley filled with flying debris and dust.
The ground looked as if tilled repeatedly by a giant rake.
The destructive power of human-made weapons was fully revealed.
