Chapter 24 - Kuzas Iavko 04

Beta tester 83 was shocked when it was revealed that they were trapped with The Decagon. That the game world of Avelon was just one within another game, that itself was the actual Decagon instead. What they thought they were logging out into was not actually reality, but just a different layer of the overall game world. They were playing a game inside of a game that had two aspects to it. There was the real world aspect and the game world one. It was an interesting concept that some recalled was used by another series and company once before. However, the amount and degree of depth that Kynatech had put into this was beyond the next level.

Tester 83 was amongst those who were shocked, but still kept on doing what they were doing regardless. Being trapped within The Decagon did not change the fact that they wanted to be the strongest player in the game world of Avelon. Some gave up on Avelon and were trying to become the strongest in the real world aspect of The Decagon instead. Training there all the time to become stronger, which seems to be something that was capable of being done, actually. Though they could not see their stats and progress as they could if they were using their player character to get stronger instead.

Players who were already locked in on what they wanted to do were not changing their minds. In fact, they might have become a bit worse as they learned the state of existence they were currently in. Many took the chance to constantly be playing the game, as nothing was stopping them from doing so, be it internally or externally, anymore. There was no way one could enter the room of another without being invited themselves, and even then, they were restricted to just the living room area. They could not venture beyond that; no one could forcefully attempt to remove someone from a session of being logged into Avelon. Then there were no biological needs that required being met, as all those were no longer needs but wants instead. A beta tester had to want those things for them to happen, and even when they did, they had to act on them; otherwise, the want can just be ignored, and it goes away.

Trailblazing was being done on both fronts as well. Beta tester in the facility and the outdoor area surrounding it. While as player, they were also exploring the game world too, yet each for different reasons though. The beta testers were exploring, were doing so looking for a possible way out or boundary of their current 'real world'. Hoping that maybe they could connect someone upon reaching it somehow.

As Kuzas, they were fully committed to the game world of Avelon instead of ever logging out. They were not taking the harder way of playing by the Guild's rules. That's how one can level up their levels through the quests they take for them. Though their progress is dependent on the Guild that provides them with the quest and task. Even ones started and fully run by players have to deal with this issue themselves. Kuzas was not going that route, as they were going to a faster and easier one of just killing player killers, bandits, and bandit killers for the EXP they had. It was not going to label them as one themselves, as long as they do not take out a normal player even once.

Kuzas learned that over time, players like him and others were given the label of oranges. Oranges because that's the color their writing appears whenever they do. That was an interesting tidbit of information that they all learned about quickly. As within Avelon, all the written words of players come out in a color that matches their current status.

Players have the traditional black writing.

Players killers (all three kinds) have red writing.

Oranges (players who kill only player killers) have orange writing.

The Oranges actually started working with bandits in some cases. Those were the times when they were too strong and powerful to take out each other anymore. However, going after the two other types of player killers was still fair game to them. This was also a counter to bandit killers too, since they could not kill another player on top of the original one they did (be it intentional or accidental).

Yet what was most shocking was what Oranges could do to settlements that player killers were banned from entering. They could just remove that status from the area, allowing it to no longer be considered as such. Thus allowing them back in... at least of what was left, as the place had to be fully wrecked and abandoned by the players that once lived there. Once that was done, it could be repurposed into a base for bandits. Some even did this, with their goal being to take down a starting area, as that was their overall goal for themselves.

Kuzas' goal, however, was the same as before, and that was just becoming the strongest with possibly no equal. If that was not possible, then at least as strong as possible, to be on the highest end rather than being on the middle to lower end. It meant that Kuza traveled around the fourth starting region to first become the strongest in this region first. As soon as that happened, if everything goes according to plan, they could then worry about the other nine areas, as surely, regardless of the method, there would be the strongest for the other nine areas to compete with.

Kuzas and others like him were on to something, as they had a general right idea. Their thinking overall was not wrong, as what they thought would happen would actually come to fruition. It's just the manner in which it would. It would be something that none of them would have expected in how it happened, when it would happen, or why it would happen. It did happen, though it would change the game of The Decagon once again, beyond what they were thinking.
