The trip to the mountain was very uneventful but also eventful at the same time.
Because after waking up Jeonghan could feel Seungcheol's burning gaze on him. It made him wonder if his face was dirtied by his drool or if his face looked puffy and weird after waking up?
Honestly, because they have been best friends since they were kids these type of small things shouldn't matter. The Jeonghan from two years ago would have shrugged nonchalantly without pondering deeply the meaning behind Seungcheol's gaze but in these two years many things have changed between them. He wants to figure out what went wrong, wants to fix things between them. He wants their friendship to be restored the way it was in their high school days.
He wants the old Seungcheol back cause Seungcheol is precious to him. Very precious.
Seungcheol's low groan snapped him out of these thoughts as he saw Seungcheol clutching his head in pain. That's when he understood, Seungcheol must have been in daze as he is having a hangover. That must be the reason he was staring at Jeonghan.
For some reason Jeonghan felt a small sense of disappointment when he concluded this.
What was he even hoping for?
Actually hangover wasn't a big deal to Seungcheol cause he has the habit of drinking more than his friends whenever they sit to drink so he has hangovers often. Jeonghan tried to pass the water bottle near him to Seungcheol but by then Seungcheol had already took his own water bottle to drink from. It suddenly made Jeonghan feel sad. He felt like the distance between him and Seungcheol has increased.
It was entirely his fault for neglecting his best friend for so long. He can swear that he didn't do it intentionally but since the start of his University life his thoughts have been entirely occupied by Hyungwon hyung, his used to be crush and his current boyfriend. Whenever he thinks about Hyungwon he feels incredibly sweet inside. He already wants to rush back to be beside his boyfriend after not seeing him for a few days but he is not a clingy person like a certain someone, Jeonghan thought while scoffing to himself.
But right now he needs to put efforts into patching his relationship with Seungcheol. If not now then sooner or later he will surely restore their relationship to how it was before.
He still felt a bit sleepy so he took out his phone to check his messaging apps. Seeing a sweet good morning with many hearts on a certain chat screen Jeonghan let out a light laugh at how cheesy the message was even though the content is a normal and simple wish with a repeated emoji. Even though he found it cheesy, his heart melted when he imagined a light smile on his cute boyfriend's face when he must be sending this message.
He looked up from his phone to see that Seungcheol was nowhere to be found. He must have went out to get ready. So Jeonghan's whole attention focused on his phone screen again, replying and chatting with his boyfriend who went online as soon as he got Jeonghan's reply.
Later, everyone got ready and sat down to eat breakfast made by Mingyu. Their group of friends is too big so it takes some efforts to gather everyone together but thankfully no one can deny food in their friends group so they actively bustled about with some of them bathing before breakfast and some of them sitting down to eat after brushing their teeth.
Seungcheol doesn't like to eat breakfast without bathing so he took a quick bath in a small bathroom in their convenient camping van and got out to make room for his other friends.
He saw Minghao outside who must to waiting to take a bath. He was about to call Minghao as Minghao seemed to be looking at something while being absent minded but he stopped himself when he saw the scene of Minghao leaning his back against the window.
The wind blowing inside scattered Minghao's soft hairs which he brushed back in place with his slender fingers. The gesture would make one wonder about the softness of those hairs as the fingers keeps slipping through it as if they are silk threads and half of his body was being touched by the dull and cool morning light, enhancing his soft facial features and giving Seungcheol an illusion of a gentle beauty standing in front of him.
It was now Seungcheol's turn to be absent minded as he became pre occupied by a single thought.
Why did he never knew that Minghao looked so beautiful?
It was actually just a passing thought for a brief moment which broke away when Minghao called out his name looking at him with a questioning gaze for few moments before coming to a conclusion in his mind and shaking his head lightly. It seems like he wanted to ask something but thought against it.
This made Seungcheol feel confused but he felt like his lips were sealed so he didn't voice out his confusion.
Minghao must have noticed that he is done bathing so he came closer to pass by Seungcheol and enter the bathroom but the closer his steps took him towards Seungcheol the stranger Seungcheol started feeling.
With the distance between them shortening and the gap closing, Seungcheol suddenly turned sideway to give way to Minghao. His heart which was normal a moment ago started beating faster for some reason. Was it because of their closeness? No, it must be because he got caught zoning out and felt embarassed.
Even though Seungcheol felt that the reason he gave himself was absurd, he chose to believe it cause if not then what any other reason could there be?
After seeing Minghao enter the bathroom he slipped out of the van as fast as he could.
After going out, Seungcheol couldn't understand what happened just now nor he wanted to pay attention to the awkward moment that took place between them.
But a thought was surely nailed in his mind now...
Minghao is beautiful too.
