On the airship, Alex Carter was deep in thought.
He hadn't expected Emily to be conscious during the past few days. Reflecting on this, Alex felt a twinge of helplessness.
After half a day in the air, Alex reached Cerulean City.
Here, Alex aimed to earn his third badge.
The Cerulean City Gym was run by Misty's three older sisters, each as beautiful as a fairy. Winning their favor would certainly please Alex.
With this in mind, Alex landed the airship on the outskirts of Cerulean City and entered the city.
He kept a low profile, avoiding unnecessary attention.
Meanwhile, on a nearby cliff, two individuals observed Alex.
"Did you see that, James? That kid was flying an airship, but how did it just disappear?" A woman with an 'R' on her chest asked her companion.
"Jessie, I saw it too. I think this kid is loaded and might have some rare Pokémon. Should we ambush him?"
Both had the 'R' insignia on their chests.
"Our group hasn't had much success lately. I heard the boss is dissatisfied. We need to snatch some powerful Pokémon," Jessie said, brushing her long hair back.
"We're doing alright. Haven't you heard? Jessie and James... their group is struggling. The organization gave them tasks, but they failed. I heard they might be expelled soon... Hahaha," James replied.
"Jessie, that chatterbox, makes me mad... She has no skill, just a sharp tongue. Last time, she bragged about a powerful Pikachu she planned to hand over to the organization, claiming she'd be promoted above us," Jessie said, rolling her eyes.
"Alright, let's not dwell on them. They'll be out soon enough."
...Alex strolled through Cerulean City, taking in the sights.
A coastal city in the northern Kanto Region, Cerulean City bordered a river mouth, with Saffron City to the south and Mt. Moon to the west.
The streets were bustling.
Shops sold tech items and Pokémon food... And many young women in refreshing outfits roamed the city.
Cerulean City was a delightful place.
Besides the pretty young women, Water-type Pokémon were abundant. Perhaps due to its seaside location, Water-type Pokémon were everywhere.
Many women had Poliwag carrying items, while others had shopping bags hanging from Starmie points.
Alex saw this repeatedly.
Despite the distractions, Alex's goal remained clear. He soon arrived at the Cerulean City Gym, intent on earning the blue badge.
As he entered the Gym, he heard girlish laughter.
"Lily, yours is too small; not as big as mine."
"Daisy, yours feels nice, but not as good as mine."
"Don't believe me? Come and touch it."
...Hearing this puzzling conversation, Alex had strange thoughts. What was happening? He came to challenge the Gym, yet the words he overheard made his heart race.
"Violet, yours isn't that great, is it? If you don't believe me, have someone else check."
As they spoke, Alex entered the Gym.
The three sisters turned their gaze to him. Curious about their earlier words, Alex wondered what this 'place to be touched by others' was.
Upon entering, he realized.
The sisters were discussing their Goldeen.
Three Goldeen swam in the Gym's pool. They were comparing their Goldeen, which had made Alex's heart race, thinking he'd stumbled upon something else.
"What brings you here?"
"Never mind that, help us decide whose Goldeen is better?"
..."Yes, yes, yes, decide for us! I think my Goldeen is strongest."
...Watching their playful bickering, Alex was speechless.
Yet, these sisters were undeniably beautiful. In the anime, they performed water ballet, showcasing their figures and looks.
"I think all your Goldeen are well-trained! With your care, they'll become strong," Alex quickly replied, deflecting with humor.
Judging might offend someone, and it wasn't worth the risk!
"Oh, this young man is quite charming."
Sakura, the redhead, laughed and addressed Alex.
"Uh, I..."
Alex, slightly flustered, looked at Sakura.
"By the way, what brings you here?"
Ayame, the blue-haired sister, inquired.
"I'm here for a challenge. This is the Cerulean City Gym, right? I want to take on the challenge!" Alex announced.
"Oh, oh, I see. Sorry, you're a Trainer," the sisters realized, slightly embarrassed.
Their confusion amused Alex. Indeed, beauty often came with a lack of awareness.
Moreover, Alex recalled that the Cerulean Sisters' Pokémon weren't particularly strong. Many from Pallet Town, except Ash, had successfully challenged them.
They were defeated easily, lacking fighting spirit.
It wasn't that Pallet Town Trainers were fierce; the sisters were unprofessional and weak.
Focused on water ballet, their charm was their priority. Otherwise, Misty wouldn't have taken over the Gym, as the challenges were too easy.
Furthermore, if you got along with the sisters, they might give you a badge without a proper challenge.
Truly lacking in standards!
Ash received a badge simply for cleaning the Gym, which was rather embarrassing.
