He said it so casually that it took Travis a full heartbeat before his soul leapt out of his body.
"What!! Kai's mate? When? How??"
None of this made sense. So if he touched any beastman's hair they automatically became his mate? Which useless tradition was that? Whoever formed that rule deserved a heavy punch to the face because that was the dumbest thing he had ever heard.
"And why," Travis demanded, "am I just being told this now? You planned this, didn't you? Kai — you wanted to make me your mate by default!"
He glared at him accusingly, but Kai only shook his head.
"That's why I was leaving," Kai said softly. "I never wanted to force you into anything."
