"We're going to Switzerland for three days."
Marcus announced over breakfast the next morning.
Aria had barely slept, her mind racing about the Metal she found under the pillow. Marcus did not give her any meaningful explanation. He said he is a man with lots of enemies, and so he needed one of those.
"Switzerland? When?"
"This afternoon. I have meetings in Zurich about a tech acquisition." He poured more coffee into her cup. "And I want you with me."
"As your art consultant or as your…" She struggled for the right word.
"As mine." His eyes met hers. "We'll have separate bedrooms if that's what you want. But I'd prefer if you shared mine."
"I still haven't decided if I'm yours."
"I know." He took her hand. "But that doesn't change the fact that I want you with me. Even if we're just dating normally and decide the other isn't for you."
Aria felt bad; he was giving her an out. A way to keep things casual. But the thought of going back felt wrong somehow.
