When the two of them finally told their families of their marriage. Deacon had imagined it going in several ways. The first scenario that he had thought of had been the two of them announcing that they were married, and Slater's seemingly undying grandfather keeling over in shock, and finally kicking the bucket. Slater would no doubt end him if she ever knew he'd had such a thought. But Deacon had seriously considered the news killing her grandfather.
The second scenario had been Deacon's own father having a heart attack upon hearing the awful news and dying without even getting to utter a word of protest( with that one, Deacon had known there would be a huge chance of his father coming back as a ghost to haunt him).
