Albert Slater was old, and it was not just the kind of old that only dealt with the passing of time.
He also had quite a lot of experience under his belt. He had gotten married, and had a child. Then he had buried his wife, cancer stealing her away from him. After the death of his wife, there had come one of the most devastating losses of Albert's life.
The loss of not only his beloved son, but also his treasured daughter-in-law.
Not all of the experiences that he'd had in his long life were bad though. There were plenty of good things too. Things like the births of his grandchildren. All of the breath-taking locations that he had visited. Getting to see technologies spring up experiences and growing in ways that nobody from his time would have ever thought possible.
But even with all of those different. The thing about life was that at some point things stopped being so surprising.
