Michael looked at Kieran, who, after watching a video, had him send the contact information of one of their best team when it comes to cleanup, to Lilith.
Michael glanced at the video and saw how she handled the five men sent to her.
They didn't seem like they were there to kill her but just to scare her, yet she retaliated straightforwardly, killing them without second thoughts.
But to think that Kieran would send Sweeper to her. It must mean he expects more from her when it comes to cleaning up.
Just then, the door swung open.
"Sir Ethan," Michael respectfully greeted.
If they were not in the office, he would call him Uncle instead.
Ethan Sinclair, Kieran's father, and one of the directors in the company.
"You were married?" Ethan asked Kieran.
Kieran nodded.
"And you did not tell any of us? Even your grandfather found out about it when it was already done with."
In passing, as if remembering something of no importance, Patrick told him that Kieran was married.
"..."
Kieran just looked at his father.
Ethan pinched the space between his brows.
Not that they ever interfered with any of Kieran's decisions, but the matter right now is different.
"I wouldn't have cared if it were anyone else. But why must you marry Lilith Kingsley? The Kingsley Family is in a mess at this moment. Are you so bored that you wanted to join their mess?"
"..."
Kieran continued looking at his father as if asking why he still needed to ask.
Ethan sighed, "Kieran. Lilith Kingsley is currently the eye of the typhoon in the Kingsley Family. Even though things went for the worse for their family, it is still the other century-old family that led this country."
From the very beginning, they barely understood Kieran.
As a child, they did not neglect him, nor did they spoil him.
However, perhaps because he was so capable, he began to lose interest in many things as he grew up. To the point he became as cold as he is today.
Not that he experienced any traumatic events. He just found enjoyment in the darker side of the world that shaped the man he is now.
Now, because of boredom, he willingly entered the typhoon that is currently causing unrest in the country.
Because of the Kingsley Conglomerate's current chaos, even the flow of the economy of their country was being affected. That is how influential the century-old families are.
"Won't my words change your mind?" Ethan asked.
Kieran shook his head.
With his family, he has more reactions. Though he still does not usually speak, at the very least, he reacts more.
"I want to speak with the young lady. I know you wouldn't be the one approaching her. It must have been the other way around. I also heard that she came to the company the day after Father gave her the will."
Ethan turned to Michael, to whom Michael shook his head.
He can't do anything about Kieran's decisions either. He won't be able to stop him even if he tries.
"I also heard that you are now staying with her?" Ethan remembered after receiving Michael's reply.
Kieran shrugged.
Ethan closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Indeed, why still come here when he is well aware that he won't get anything from this son of his? He should have gone to Lilith instead.
"You and your boredom. I don't know what you saw in her for you to agree to play with fire. But... well, you do what you want."
After that, he left the office.
Michael looked at Kieran, but Kieran was already doing his work, as if what had happened was just a passing wind.
'Just how bored were you to do all these things you usually wouldn't give any attention at all?'
...
"Come in," I said when someone knocked on the door.
Without looking up. I already knew who it was based on the pause before fully entering the room.
"Uncle, I have a gift for you," I said without waiting for him to say anything.
I continued checking one document after another as I spoke.
"It's that small box on the coffee table," I added.
He slowly walked towards the coffee table and suspiciously picked up the box.
*Blag*
My lips slowly curved up when I heard it being thrown away.
"LILITH KINGSLEY!!!"
That's the first time he actually shouted with me present. He had been trying his best to keep a calm demeanor before, but the shock must have been too much for his cute, fragile heart.
"Wasn't that the reason why you were stunned when you came in? Because I am unscathed?" I said without looking at him.
"I don't know what you are talking about. What kind of sick joke is this?"
"Anyway, a few documents are missing. I think they should be the ones you signed on behalf of Riven. Do bring them to me as well. Just like the rest."
I iterated the words, 'Just like the rest,' referring to the use of a hard drive in giving me the files.
"Lilith Kingsley-"
"I am quite busy, Mr. Vice President. Since your business here is done, you may take your leave."
"I have not even said anything about why I came," he complained.
I finally looked up, and I can see how pale his face is.
It seems that was a good scare.
"What is it then?"
He looked down at the gift he had thrown on the floor.
"Oh, could you be here because the security cameras are not working in the parking lot? And that you came to ask me how I was because you heard I left the office around 3 to 4 in the morning?"
"..."
"See that, your business is done here. Isn't the gift answer enough to what you are going to ask?"
I returned my attention to what I was doing.
