"Fine," Ben agreed immediately. "If you want it redone, I'll arrange it. But let me remind you—there is a high chance you'll get the same result. Are you ready for that?"
Gideon froze, momentarily speechless. He had done the test in three different labs in the past, all under reliable supervision. There had been no room for manipulation. Still… he clung to a shred of hope. Maybe the samples had been mixed up. Maybe an error had slipped in. Maybe something had gone wrong.
He needed to try again. He wanted desperately to believe Summer hadn't betrayed him, that Hope could truly be his child.
"Even if I have to face a disappointment, I want to go for the test again," he urged. "Please do it for me."
Ben nodded. "Alright. I'll take care of it. But I still think it's wiser to look for a compatible donor if you genuinely want to save the child."
"Just do what I asked," Gideon muttered, his restlessness seeping through. "The donor can be arranged."
