When I got in the car, it felt weird to me because I was never from Texas i was born and raised in Mexico but my parents crossed to have a better life but it just got worse for me. While in the back seat of the car, the woman asked if I had a name instead of boy or kid I kind of understood it but speaking it was the hardest thing to do so I said in a (slowed tune) My name es Emmanuel then I just stared at the window. Then the lady said her name is Emy and her husband was named Ethan after they told me their names we made it to their house. When I got out of their car and saw the house I thought it was going to be like a small apartment or something but no it was a big house and the inside was nice as well after I took a tour around the house, Emy pointed me to my room and ask If I like the room and if I had any questions about the house but I didn't say anything I just nodded my head and put my stuff in my room.
After I started to walk to the kitchen I saw I picture of Ethan and Emy taking a group picture that I thought was their friend, while I looked, I asked, " ¿Son estos tus amigos, Emy? Meaning are these your friends? After I ask the question Ethan walks over and was about to answer my question but realized the I didn't really know English that well so he got his phone and when a google translate and say the that is his side of the family but since there grandchildren stop showing up there decided to adopt me so they can he the same life they had with the grandchildren. Then he ask if I had any siblings and I told him on his phone that I was an only child but I was fine being the only one the we hear Emy yell out "Dinner time" so I walk to the kitchen and sat down at the table and Emy gave me a plate of steak, mashed potatoes and vegetables then Emy ask if I ever had any like this before but I said nothing since I was scared to speak in English. While we were I ask in English the best I can "hhow did you get this casa I mmmeant house" then Emy started talk " You see Emmanuel we used to work for a company that paid big money and now we live in a beautiful house like this" when I was done eating Emy grabs my plate and tells me that theirs and bath with a shower in front of my room so you can get my self clean
After I was done taking a shower I went into the living room and sat on the chair next to them while I was watching TV. Emy noticed that I was in pain in my back so she asked "Are you ok Emmanuel I look like you're in pain from just sitting there. "No no I'm ffine," I tell her then she asks if it's ok if she lifts up the back of my shirt to see. I was trying to keep it a secret from myself but I had to let her by cause I didn't want to lie to them so I let her lift my shirt and she was in shock that I had a 5-inch scar on my back and asked if it hurt when she touched it. I nodded my head and said Sí, señora then she grabbed a cream to help heal the skin from any diseases then she asked if I could take off my shirt so she could wrap my back with bandages so I did. If she was done she took me to my room and told me that if I ever need anything we will be next door then she walked out and closed the door. While lying in bed I told myself that, Emy and Ethan might be the best people I know but I still feel sad for some reason after I said that I closed my eyes and fell asleep hoping for a new day.
