Chapter 29 - Chapter 29:First Impressions and Hogwarts Wanderings

After the Sorting ceremony, Roy returned to the Hufflepuff common room with Cedric Diggory, Hannah Abbott, Susan Bones, and his other first-year housemates. The cozy room, filled with warm golden light and plush armchairs, instantly felt like home. Roy introduced himself to his roommates, exchanging polite greetings and small talk, already noting their personalities and magical potential in his mind.

Once he settled in, he decided to visit his pocket dimension for a short while. Articuno, the majestic ice bird, and Dvalin, his powerful dragon companion, greeted him enthusiastically. Roy spent some time flying with them in the skies of his personal realm, playing games, and testing small magical exercises with them. After a while, he bid farewell to his companions, leaving them safely in the pocket dimension, and returned to the common room to sleep, feeling refreshed for his first day of Hogwarts classes.

Roy's Class Schedule

The next morning, Roy received his schedule for the school year. Being a Hufflepuff came with a mix of shared classes across houses:

Transfiguration: Hufflepuff + Gryffindor

Potions: Hufflepuff + Ravenclaw

Charms: Hufflepuff + Slytherin

Botany/Herbology: Hufflepuff + Gryffindor

Defence Against the Dark Arts: Hufflepuff + Gryffindor

History of Magic: Hufflepuff + Slytherin

Flying Class: Hufflepuff + Ravenclaw

Roy noted with a smile that he had holidays on Saturday and Sunday, giving him time to explore the castle and surroundings.

Exploring Hogwarts

Eager to get familiar with Hogwarts, Roy set out to explore the castle, carefully inspecting every corridor, stairwell, and courtyard. He mentally cataloged secret passages, rooms, and vantage points — everything that might prove useful later. His sharp memory and Perfect Mind skill made it easy to recall every detail.

By breakfast, Roy returned to the Great Hall, where the long tables of Hufflepuff were already filled with chattering students. Joining him were familiar faces from other houses: Hermione Granger from Gryffindor, Daphne Greengrass and Cassandra Vole from Slytherin, and Penelope Clearwater from Ravenclaw.

Roy eagerly shared everything he had observed during his exploration: secret corridors, the arrangement of classrooms, the library sections, and even the greenhouses. Daphne, Cassandra, and Hermione were taking notes diligently, while Penelope chimed in to mention a few places Roy had missed.

"Looks like you've got a lot to explore still," Penelope said with a smile.

Roy grinned. "Noted. I'll visit them next time."

The conversation flowed naturally, and laughter echoed along the Hufflepuff table as Roy introduced his friends: Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Cedric Diggory, and his roommates. Each student was eager to meet and greet the newcomers, curious about Roy's knowledge and friendly demeanor.

Ronald Weasley's Growing Jealousy

From the Gryffindor table, Ronald Weasley couldn't help but notice the unusual attention Roy commanded. Roy, though only a first-year, was already friendly and confident across houses, and the girls seemed to enjoy his presence. Ron's jealousy simmered quietly, especially seeing Roy laughing and chatting naturally with Hermione, Daphne, and Cassandra, oblivious to the social hierarchy of Hogwarts.

Despite Ron's discomfort, Roy remained unbothered, politely acknowledging others when necessary but clearly focused on forming friendships based on genuine interest rather than fame or reputation.

By the end of breakfast, everyone had a clear sense that Roy Valvas was not an ordinary first-year — he was observant, confident, and surprisingly approachable, while still carrying the weight and mystery of the Valvas family name, a detail that most students would slowly uncover with time.
