Chapter 9 - This isn't over

ISOBEL

"Already here?" Came Mason's excited voice, "You couldn't wait to be alone with me, could you?" He smiled widely, "I perfectly understand."

I said it! This narcissist was bipolar because this wasn't the man that just displayed unrivaled authority few minutes ago. Something was definitely wrong with him. He must have hit his head as a child due to Ophelia's bad parenting as a godmother.

"Now don't just stand there like a piece of furniture, my chamber is well furnished, I don't need more." He said, while pouring a glass of wine.

For the first time, I allowed myself to admire his room and truly, it was tastefully furnished but now wasn't the time to for that. We needed to address the elephant in the room.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked, unable to hold back.

Mason casually took a sip from his glass, leaned back into the couch and let his eyes skim over me before giving me a response, "Doing what?"

"Don't play dumb with me, Mason! You know what I'm talking about." I was fed up. Fed up with Ophelia and Mason's excesses. I just couldn't take it anymore.

"Oh feisty," Mason chuckled softly as he slowly stood up and walked towards me, "I like it." He took a piece of my hair and twirled it around his fingers, "Exactly how you were that night."

I sighed deeply, while praying to the moon goddess for the gift of patience, in order to keep myself from committing the real murder because Mason was seriously grating on my nerves. "Now is not the time for that."

"Any time can be the time for sex." He deadpanned and then downed the entire content of the glass.

"I'm not sleeping with you, Mason." I said seriously and it honestly felt like I was lying to myself. "The last time was a mistake that'll never repeat itself."

"Oh, you will." He muttered in a low voice but loud enough for me to hear then he walked to the wine bar and poured himself yet another glass. It sounded like a promise, one that he would never rest until it's done.

"What do you want from me?!" I called out, seriously this time.

Mason seemed to sense my seriousness as he dropped the glass and came to stand before me, "I just saved your as, the least you can do is thank me." He said it as though this was a normal circumstance.

"I'd have preferred death than to be here with you." I muttered, leading us to an awkward silence.

"Why did you do it?" I broke the silence, not letting go of the opportunity to ask the question that had been on my mind. Why did he save me? We obviously didn't have a good relationship and he was aware his mother despised me so why?

Mason ignored my question and asked his,"Did you do it?"

"What do you think?" I sneered bitterly. I didn't know what always got me so worked up around him but I hated it.

He ignored my sass, "I think you're innocent but that doesn't change the fact that you're a mini magnet for trouble. What did you do this time? Who do you think is behind this?"

"Since you seem to know it all, why don't you figure it out yourself?" I mocked. For some reason, I was myself with Mason. Something about him unleashed my sassy self.

Mason chuckled deeply and suddenly, the air around us turn tight as he stepped into my view, his large frame crowding my mind. "I may not know it all but I know exactly what to do to you to have you writhing under me within seconds."

I opened my mouth to counter his words but words failed me at that moment and Mason, taking me by surprise, took the opportunity to pull me into him and seized my mouth in a heated kiss.

His mouth wasn't soft; it's hard and demanding. Like he wants to own a part of me and show me just how much I need him. Show me that no matter how hard I try to deny, I truly crave him, crave to relive that night.

Before I can even comprehend what I was doing, my desires from the past take over, and all rational thoughts left me as I closed the distance between us, and wrapped my arms around him.

I kissed him back, pulling him closer, losing all sanity as he lifted me up to his table, and then he pushed his knee between my thighs, devouring me until my lungs felt like it'd explode.

"Damn, my memories didn't do this justice." He muttered to himself as he kissed along my jaw and down my neck, where he sucked on my sensitive skin, and I tilted my head to the side, giving him more room as I gripped his hair and held him closer.

Mason was my undoing. He knew exactly what to do to me and as much as I hated to admit, I loved having his hands on my body. It felt good. It felt right.

Suddenly, a knock resounded on the door, snapping me into reality, but Mason didn't seem to care as he doesn't let me go even when I pulled away, instead he tightened his grip on me, pulling my lower lip into his mouth and softly biting it.

"Aw!" I moaned softly as I tasted my blood and finally Mason pulled away with a satisfied look on his face.

"This isn't over." He said with a smile that tugged at my when I recalled that whatever was going on between us was not right. It had to stop and the earlier we put an end to it, the better for the two of us.

Bracing myself, I softly shook my head and pushed him gently "Yes, it is."

Mason doesn't argue as he lets he lets me push him back. Then he goes to the door, swinging it open to see his angsty godmother, my worst nightmare. Thank goodness she hadn't caught us in the act. I'd have been dead meat!
