"You know, Kea, your sister has been wanting to see you for quite a while now; she really misses you."
My hands worked the knife, cutting the chicken with ease.
"Yeah? She should be back in a few minutes now; those spices won't bring themselves."
As I was picked up from Yince City, my sister was dropped off at the same time. We were supposed to bump into each other there, but we ended up completely missing each other, as I was a little late…
*Ding dong*
"I'll get it," Granny said as she hobbled to the door.
*Boom*
A hulking mas of muscle walked in. "Back in a jiffy!!"
My dad stepped in through the doors, almost too tall to fit. Next stepped in a smaller girl, my sister.
The moment she saw me working in the kitchen, her eyes lit up, losing the lost, wondering gaze they usually held.
"Kea."
She walked over to me, hugging me with the smallest amount of force imaginable.
I put the knife down and put my hand on her head.
"You're not much younger than me, you know. Sometimes, you should drop that more childish personality; it would make you seem as old as you are."
"Err, is that all you're going to say to me?" She scowled.
First, maybe let go of me. It's hard to concentrate on cooking.
"Sorry, I'll keep my distance." She stepped back a little, inching a little bit further every second until she was completely upstairs.
Out of every person in the world, my sister is the one I am most comfortable around. Since we both have somewhat similar types of social anxiety, and we're both introverts, we were able to get along (almost) perfectly.
*tick… tick…*
"Crap!"
I had left the vegetables on for too long!
