The forest grew thicker as the car got deeper and further from the main city.
I hope Nil can handle the shopping; that's something I have been doing.
The ride was rather silent, as my mom didn't really talk much. She was a hard-crafted Iron Smith from the Basall District. One of the best out there.
And on that topic…
The car door flew open.
A towering monster stood above me, yanking me out of the seat.
"Kea!!! My boy!! It's been so long!!!"
I felt my body crushed under the pressure.
This… is… my… dad…
*Gasp*
The moment he let go, the sunlight returned to my body.
He's a construction worker, head of his division. The heart and soul of the family's power and spirit.
We lived off in the far regions of the Basall forest, far away from any and all civilisation.
"Alright, Nuko!! (Mom) I'll take the car back to Yinshaw District!!! You go and rest!"
"Ok."
She hugged him and walked off.
"Dad, don't crash the car, please."
"I won't, haha!! I have cargo to bring back!" (Human girl)
That's reassuring, I guess…
"Ow! Hey!" Something had pocked me in the leg as I stood at the driveway.
A smaller lady stood behind me, poking me with a stick.
"You gained some weight, young boy."
"What? How's that possible?" I defended.
I admit, I have been getting comfortable around the house as of late.
My grandmother, the last person I have seen in my family since I moved out, passes by the market now and then, back at home.
Her cooking skills are beyond normal, as expected from a former master chef.
"See you! I'll be back before you know it!" My dad yelled, not nearly far enough for yelling to be feasible.
The car zoomed off.
"I'll put my bags in the room, then I'll help with dinner after."
"Hehe, sounds good, little boy. It's chicken chilli soup today!"
I really like it here, but of course, as I get older, visits like these are the only time I'll get to see my family.
