Beta Tester 83 was stoked when they finally announced that they had chosen the ten thousand and nine people to be the final beta testers. It had been months since then, as they sure did take their sweet time getting everything set up. Just how many people did they have to cycle through before they managed to get to the magic number they were requiring? Not that it bothered Tester 83, as they were getting to live it up on the Kynatech dime after all. It was part of the deal that they would be putting their entire life on hold just to do this beta test, and the deal was that, rather than having to start over as a result. Just because they were putting everything on hold does not mean the world itself was as well, as it just kept on moving without them. However, all the things that they had to worry about or take care of themselves.
That was being handled by Kynatech.
Professional:
If they had a job, it was being paid by them to keep them employed if an adult. If not, they are paying the school system to give them all the work that a beta tester would need for the foreseeable future to continue to keep up and not fall behind in their school work. Yet in the case of the students, they were given all the work they would need to not fall behind in their studies themselves. However, if they actually do it, though, it would be up to them though.
Personal:
Their living space would be maintained by Kynatech, as everything they had would be managed by them. Their homes are kept clean, their food is stocked and up to date, and their security is ensured. Those who had to pay rent, mortgage, and/or condo fees were covered. Their bills and expenses were being covered as well, not paid over, just covered in the manner that they desired, as they were still getting paid the same amount they were before. It would be a paycheck if they were an adult, or an allowance if they were getting that. It did not matter what expense they were paying, as they were having it all covered by Kynatech.
Private:
Whatever secrets they had were being maintained by Kynatech as well. Their division that handles their own personal privacy was not being applied to ten thousand and nine people individually.
Tester 83, though, did not really care about any of this, as it was the smaller details that they just brushed off, as they only cared about getting into the game itself. If they were able to just come back to their life as it was after this was all over, that was enough for them, as everyone who knew just thought they were going on a long paid vacation because of Kynatech. It was not like this was the first time they had done something like this, either.
They arrived at the facility where they would all be living in at midnight. Everyone was getting there at that time, as the only clock anyone had access to within the facility was the digital clock in their room. It displayed two different times, the time and one underneath, and many of them were not sure what rules it followed, but those like Beta Tester 83 did not care. The facility itself, though, was packed with first class service from top to bottom. Everyone had rooms that were each like their own personal suites that were modeled to their tastes and stocked with everything they requested to have inside them. The facility itself was no joke either, as it had everything they could have ever wanted, like it was tailored made to fit the tastes and needs of the thousand people that were housed there.
There were ten different unique areas in the overall facility itself, and Tester 83 was a part of Area 04. There was a mixture of people who were all roaming about, awaiting for the first official start to the beta test, now that they were all gathered here. Though no one ever heard any word from anyone about when they would start the beta test themselves. No one from Kynatech appeared to tell them when they could start. Thus, eventually everyone went to their room to report this, and they were all informed that The Decagon was player drive game, thus they decided everything, including how they were going to play it.
'Weird, they are just leaving that up to them,' Tester 83 thought.
Eventually, everyone would find and/or be told where they had to go to gain access to the game world. The game world itself was called Avelon, though everyone found it strange that the game was called The Decagon, but the game world they were going into was called Avelon. They all just brushed it off, as there was probably a good reason for it that would get explained later on.
Within the world of Avelon, that is where Kuzas Iavko, the player character of Tester 83, hit the ground running. Not care about anything other than just playing the game itself. As their starting area was the fourth one. It never dawned on them that, besides other players that were in their starting area's main city, that it was completely empty, despite everything else being present and accounted for.
None of this bothered Kuzas, as they ran straight out of the city and into the world itself, looking for adventure and fights with the starting area mobs to grind level and get stronger immediately. However, that is where things struck for him and all the others like them. They ran, and they ran through their starting region until they decided to just stop themselves. There is no stamina system that kicks in over time, nor could they tell how much time had passed by the sky above them, either. It was daytime in Region 04, but that was not the only thing; it was always daytime in Region 04, as it never stopped being daytime for them. Time would pass, sure, but the time of day itself never seemed to change for some reason. Those like Kuzas only notice this once they eventually get bored with running and waiting for a mob to show up.
