"Mister Patrick Sinclair is the one holding the will to be read today."
Before anyone could ask questions about the way I interacted with Patrick Sinclair, the lawyer spoke first.
I was silently grateful. This matter, once revealed later on, would be even more entertaining to watch.
"To Sir Patrick Sinclair?" Richard asked as if he had heard it wrong.
"Everything shall be explained once the will is read. Shall we get inside?"
My relatives snapped out of their thoughts and went inside, leading Patrick Sinclair and the lawyer.
"This will yet be another show to watch," I muttered.
*Ring*
I looked at my phone and frowned when I saw who was calling me on WhatsApp, looking towards the car that was still there.
"Hello?"
"..."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Of course, he won't speak.
*knock*
I walked over to the car and knocked on his window.
He lowered the window, but all I saw was him leaning his head back with his eyes closed, while his phone was on his side.
"You want to listen in?" I chuckled.
He did not move, so I shrugged. I got it right.
"Very well," I said, turning to go inside as well.
But as I got close to the main door, I realized that it was already closed.
I couldn't help but laugh.
The future chairwoman, locked outside her own mansion.
Quite a nice headline for the news outlets.
I pressed the doorbell like a good young miss.
But nothing happened.
Of course, I wouldn't press it again.
I shook my head before walking to the side, humming a tune, the side where the reading of the will would occur.
Since they love creating dramas, why don't I give them one?
Upon arriving at my intended destination, I smiled even more because, inside, my relatives looked as if they were walking on tiptoes, while Patrick Sinclair sat as if the place belonged to him.
I raised one foot before kicking.
*Crash*
The glass window shattered.
Everyone jumped except Patrick. He must've seen me coming.
"Hi," I greeted everyone.
"Wh- Why did you come in such a way?"
Richard, still shaken by Patrick's appearance, asked in confusion.
I dusted off my white dress before looking up with a smile.
"The door was locked," I said innocently.
Richard's lips opened and closed a few times before he took a deep breath.
"Harold!" he called.
He was calling the butler of the main mansion.
"Yes, sir?" Harold came instantly.
But he was stupefied by the mess.
He slowly looked at me before frowning.
"Miss Lilith, you could have pressed the doorbell."
I exaggeratedly inhaled while covering my lips with my hand, "So you knew?"
I blinked innocently, "You knew the door was locked while I was still outside?"
Harold cleared his throat, "I did not. But breaking the window is too much."
"Young miss," I spoke with a smile.
He frowned.
"I am a Kingsley, so you should keep the respect you should give."
Harold clenched his jaw in obvious irritation.
"And I did use the doorbell, but no one seemed to have heard anything."
Then I turned to Richard.
"Uncle," I complained.
"Who told you to close the door? What's the need for that?" Richard gritted his teeth.
With Patrick's presence, Richard would want to show a harmonious family.
This is really a comedic show.
Patrick Sinclair obviously knows how things work around these kinds of families.
"I..."
Harold subtly glanced at Thomas Levin, Samantha Kingsley's husband.
Samantha is the youngest daughter of Jayden Kingsley.
"Say," I spoke as I walked in, ignoring the pieces of glass on the floor.
"I was locked outside, but the real outsider is allowed inside? Shouldn't there only be the Kingsleys in here? I mean, other than Sir Patrick Sinclair, who is currently holding the will?"
Everyone slowly turned to Thomas.
Clarisse Young, Richard's wife, was currently not present.
"What do you mean by that?" Samantha instantly flared.
"Why?" I asked back.
"He is my husband. Your uncle," she angrily replied.
"Not biologically. He is also not Grandfather's child. You are," I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Okay, that's enough," Richard said, stopping us.
"But-"
Samantha wanted to complain more, but Richard glared at her.
She harrumphed while Thomas gently patted her back. But he did not forget to cast a short glare at me. Something I just grinned about.
This caused veins to appear in his forehead.
I also glanced at Patrick, but seeing his indifferent attitude, I knew he was not feeling impatient.
He must be secretly enjoying this stupid family drama.
"Let's drop it there. We will talk about what happened after the business today. Is that alright, Lilith?"
I simply shrugged while Harold looked smug.
It must be because he knew Richard wouldn't pursue the matter. Just like how it has always been in the past.
"Get us all some tea," Richard ordered Harold.
Harold bowed before leaving.
Patrick did not rush the lawyer. Instead, he seemed to be waiting for the tea.
I laughed inwardly. I guess I was right. He is enjoying the stupid family drama.
I glanced at my phone, like grandfather like grandson, I suppose.
Everyone was silent. No one dared to speak again since Patrick Sinclair was not saying anything either.
I looked at my relatives while waiting.
They were all complete, happy families.
I shifted on my seat as I pondered over the current family dynamics.
Richard Kingsley, Jayden Kingsley's second child. He is the vice president of Kingsley Conglomerate.
And the current acting CEO, since I was still the temporary chairwoman.
Though I have not visited the company since my arrival.
Not that it mattered because temporary meant most wouldn't listen to me. So I did not bother appearing either.
Until the will is read and I am officially appointed the chairwoman.
Thinking about it, it seems that I will become the youngest chairwoman in the history of both the Kingsley and Sinclair legacies.
Even though Kieran became the youngest CEO at twenty-two, but Patrick Sinclair was still the chairman.
