Chapter 10 - The Prizes

Neil checked the descriptions of the domain talent, there wasn't any info about shop or nest so he opened the final one.

[Slipping Stone]

[Description]: It allows you to find out any domains present within a range of 20 kilometres.

Then allowing your domain to travel to the pointed direction. The distance and speed will increase with each upgrade of the domain.

"Oh that… would be quite useful. Whether it be attacking or defending, this skill will come handy."

Normally, domains aren't movable but with this skill, he can travel with his domain itself.

Though one can still move their domain from one region to another once.

In any case, this was quite nice to have.

And the other two skills were supposed to be even better.

Neil decided to check the two domain talents later, first he decided to open the Orb he got after killing the Diamond class Magma Bima.

He took it out of the spatial storage.

Just as he held it, he could feel the energy in his body stir before rushing towards the orb.

Cracks appeared over the surface of the orb before it burst into a flurry of bright light, several items fell over his lap.

"It better be worth the torture."

The first thing he picked was a vial which was filled with an orange fluid.

[You have acquired one 1st Origin Diamond class Gene Point.]

"Oh so this is the gene point." Neil put it to the side for now, picking the next item.

Gene points is a guaranteed reward after killing a creature, and one needed it to evolve to the next origin.

Apparently, these were the best possible rewards for him, considering the enormous power difference.

[You have acquired a Magma Armor.]

[Magma Armor]

[Rank]: 1st Origin Mythic Class

[Upgrade]: 0/1,000 kills

[Description]: The armor provides full body defence and a high resistance against fire element, the more damage it receives the higher your physical defences become, unless damage surpasses its limits.

It was a long black coat with orange patterns as if magma was flowing down.

"Nice, and it is upgradable!" he muttered in surprise, after all upgradable items are extremely rare and good.

The armor was currently at the peak of 1st Origin, and after upgrade, like the domains, it will directly reach the 2nd Origin Mythic Class.

Then he picked a smaller orb which was glowing with a golden colour, the moment he touched it, the orb disappeared.

[You have acquired 800 Shards.]

Nodding in satisfaction, Neil picked up another glass tube.

It was filled with two different types of fluids, on one side was a red fluid and the second was blue fluid.

Both sides of the tube were closed with a tight seal.

"Hmm now what's this? Red capsule, blue capsule?" Neil wondered in curiosity before reading about it.

[You have acquired Primal Gene Evolution Fluid.]

[Primal Gene Evolution Fluid]

[Description]: Choose one of the two…

Blue: Increases your human potential to the limits, increasing your mana capacity by more than three times and developing every aspect to humanly limits.

(Chances of success: 99 percent)

Red: Awaken your dormant genes, evolve you into a different lifeform. Lower restrictions.

(Chances of success: 1 percent)

Warning, you can only choose one, and it is irreversible. You might feel some level of pain based on your choice.

"It really is like that…"

Neil fell into deep thoughts, his awakening with two different synergies might also be related to this.

"Then doesn't it mean if I choose the red one, my synergy initially would be just 11 percent and who knows what I would turn into?"

Clearly the Blue fluid was the safer option, but Red seemed to give more power.

Yet upon thinking about it, the choices became a little simple.

He wasn't really all that fond of humanity that he would desperately cling to it.

On the other hand, the future growth mattered a lot, more than being human.

And the difference in success clearly showed which one is better.

Even if things go bad, he could just die and restart if he hadn't run out of life or something.

"Red potion it is then…" he muttered, and instantly removed the cap, before gulping it down.

GULP

He drank the red solution, before more doubts could creep into his mind.

The moment he drank the red potion, the blue one lost its effect and became clear like water.

The cool liquid tasted a bit bitter.

[Primal Gene Evolution Fluid Consumed.]

"What now… Ughhhh cough" Neil coughed, falling to the side as extreme pain spread throughout his body.

[Evolution in progress…]

All the veins turned black, bulging and pulsing rapidly.

There was so much pain that Neil fainted within moments.

His heart, eyes, even cells, everything was evolving.

With 1 percent success rate, he was sure that he would need to restart at least a few dozen times.

Neil had already died several times and in different ways, but this level of pain was just on another level.

[Evolution complete!]

[Congratulation! You have Evolved into a Phantom!]

As Neil came to his senses, he found himself lying over the floor, his body and clothes covered in blood.

"Ah I… I survived." He pushed himself up, but his entire body was aching and felt exhausted.

Neil could sense that his energy reserves were less than half of its earlier quantity, now his Synergy was truly as low as 11 percent.

"Ughh it was even more painful than getting burnt alive…" he muttered and after a few moments, finally sat up.

"Master, are you alright?" Nemo asked, two big eyes blinking before him over the virtual display.

"Yeah. Anyway, my synergy is just 11 percent but energy reserves only decreased by a little over half?

Then 11 percent synergy of this life form is equal to around 50 to 60 percent of humans?" Neil muttered in shock, before checking what he had become now.

A Phantom… phantom… he really felt he had heard that somewhere.

"Wait Phantom?!!" he finally remembered.

"Yes master, there is only little information about them but Phantom are the creatures after which that dark world itself was named.

They are truly terrifying, nightmarish creatures, to the point that when even a single Phantom appears, all races in proximity declare highest level alerts." Nemo added.

"…" Neil jumped to his feet in shock, he scanned his body but didn't find any changes.

Neither were there any changes in his status panel except the race, which now displayed Phantom.

His heightened senses might be the only significant change except the smaller energy capacity.

And like most, Neil too didn't like the creatures of the dark world, he had lost a few friends when they had breached Earth in the past.

Those creatures just caused chaos and deaths everywhere.

Aside from the Phaged who could plague any race, there are many others on the Phantom planet.

When spores came to Earth, the humans started turning into grotesque monsters, far deadlier than zombies.

Thankfully they were able to get the vaccine in time, while killing the ones who had already transformed.

That's why Neil wasn't affected by the spores when he came here, otherwise he too might have turned into a Phaged after inhaling those spores.

"Huh? I can't see any changes, do the phantoms look same as humans or something?"

After going over several unanswered questions, he calmed down.

There was no point in thinking about it, still this doesn't seem like a bad choice.

He would have to wait and see.

Then he wore the long coat, instantly feeling warmth spread through his body.

It was just the perfect fit, the magma armor.

He picked the other glass tube, that was filled with orange fluid.

"This is one Diamond class gene point, I wonder how much my strength will grow after this." Without wasting a moment, Neil gulped it down.

Of course, gene points could be obtained in other forms as well, like meat, even organs, but this was the easiest and best form for most races.

GULP

A hot sensation spread throughout his body instantly, almost like high fever.

His body started undergoing a rapid and big advancement.

Thankfully it wasn't painful, instead made him feel relaxed and energetic.

The process continued for nearly a minute, and finally he was back to normal, or maybe, better than he had ever been.

First of all, Neil checked his status panel.
