Likewise old man Brook felt bad. He was thinking of introducing April to his unmarried grandson.
While they were waiting for old man Brook's grandson to arrive, she thought of ways to keep him company and suggested for them to watch a Tv show.
Moments later into watching the show with old man, she received a phone call from Lady Carter and decided to excuse herself.
It took a while before she could pick up the call, feeling hesitant about what she would hear from her mother.
"You ignore calls now, don't you? Did your aunty feed you something so you can ignore your own mother." Lady Carter scoffed.
April was expecting a sympathetic voice with the phone placed on her ear but then she remembered how her mother never cared about her feelings, it was not a new thing to her.
"I was busy." She mumbled.
"Anyways, not to talk much, I called to inform you about something. It doesn't matter if you're interested or not since it's to your benefit." Lady Carter checking out her nails at the salon as she instructs the nail tech to try other designs.
"You should enjoy this freedom while it lasts. Your husband is currently on a business trip. Don't say I didn't warn you, but don't you think it's best you go back to the house before he drags you away himself. You know better the consequences of disobeying his rules, don't you?" She didn't wait for replies before ending the call.
April couldn't believe what she heard but it makes sense given that the two weeks had passed and he hasn't showed up.
Feeling relieved about the news she heard with smiles on her face, not too long she rushed back into the ward.
"Grandfather, have you had anything to eat? Let me inform the nurse so—."
April raised her head to look at old man Brook only to see someone she wasn't expecting to be there. She shivered at once causing her phone to fall from her hand.
Wh- what is he doing here? Is he really related to Grandfather? How come he's the one standing close to Grandfather. She thought in her mind staring at Lucas Brook's cold eyes as he's standing close to old man.
"April girl, come let me introduce you to my grandson." Old man Brook smiled.
She couldn't take a step forward and instead memories from the obstetrician's office flashed through. She shivered still staring at Lucas.
Meanwhile he was also thinking the same thing wondering what April was doing with his grandfather.
"Lucas, this is the girl I told you about. She saved me and quickly took me to the emergency room where I was attended to." Old man said laughing heartily like nothing was wrong with him in the first place.
She sat beside old man Brook with her head lowered. She couldn't bring herself to look at Lucas who was still staring at her with his cold eyes.
"It's a pity that you're already married. I would have proposed for you to get married to my cold-hearted grandson who has refused to listen to me."
Immediately he heard what his grandfather said, he's gaze darkened even more as he stared at April.
"Don't glare at her that way. Aren't you scared your eyes will pop out of the socket." Old man Brook scolded.
"Why don't you take April girl with you to settle the bills."
Lucas knew his grandfather was using that way to bring them closer, but he wasn't having it. Since he also has questions for her, it's an opportunity.
She followed behind him with her head lowered. Immediately they went out the door, he grabbed April's arms shoving her into the silent hallway.
"What are you doing here, huh? How did you know my grandfather? Did you plan all of this so you could trap me." He Screamed at April but all she did was whimper with tears already dropping from her eyes.
"I-I don't know- anything about this, I didn't know he's your grandfather. I- I- I only brought him here so he can be—."
"Enough with your tricks, what about the baby?" Lucas asked glaring at her.
"I- I decided to keep it. I can't kill the innocent baby that doesn't know anything." April muttered without a glance at him..
"Do you think you can play games with me. I made myself clear, I have nothing to do with the child so don't hold me accountable for anything that happens later."
"I never asked you to take responsibility for it. I only wanted you to admit it's your child." April spoke in hoarse voice with tears in her eyes.
"Why do you think I'll admit to something I didn't do? It was against my will." Lucas stared into her eyes before turning to leave.
April watched his back disappear in tears while rubbing her belly. How could she have fallen into another misfortune. Now that Lucas has denied the baby, Jake Steele would definitely not forgive her for getting pregnant with another man's child.
Thinking about everything made her fall to the ground slowly weeping in tears.
Swiftly, Lucas came back to the ward without April by his side that made his grandfather wonder what happened between them.
"Where is April? Why isn't she with you? Did you send her back home without my consent?" Old man Brook flared up in frown.
"Do you really think I'd do such a thing? I don't have time for that."
"Hmph! You don't have the time, but your cold attitude has the time. I'm sure she ran away because you scared her with your cold face."
Lucas didn't reply and instead kept his mouth shut.
"What about the thing I told you about? Don't you think you're getting older, you need to have a family of your own."
Lucas knew what his grandfather was getting at, and the main reason he pretended to be ill, but Lucas feigned ignorance and continued with what he was doing.
"Grandfather, I have things to attend to at the office. I'll come back tomorrow to see you, Father will be here to see you soon as well."
Lucas left at once without a glance at his grandfather.
Old man Brook could only sigh in disbelief. How did his grandson turn cold hearted even when he raised him.
