Old madam Steele quickly went to her own room to pick a long thick jacket, a bucket hat, and black eyeglass as a disguise for April to wear. Since that is the only way she would be able to escape jake's bodyguards keeping watch on them.
She wheeled herself to the room where April is locked up and quickly unlocked the door after many attempts of finding which key it is.
"April? April?" Old madam Steele wheeled herself closer to April who is currently unconscious. She looked pale and her lips white, her body frail with bruises from being beaten.
Immediately old madam saw the state of her body; her eyes widened in shock. How heartless Jake had turned out to be. She didn't believe her eyes, for a moment she was lost in thought before she regained herself.
"April? Please wake up. You need to leave now; this is the only chance we have." Old madam Steele called with tears in her eyes.
April and Old madam Steele has quite a close relationship with each other due to the way they always took care of each other. Anytime Jake acts out of line and starts to hit April, Old madam Steele always took care of her bruises. More so April's duty to take care of her mother-in-law who is bedridden to a wheelchair.
Moments later, April finally woke up coughing. "Quickly put on this jacket, you need to leave now." Old madam Steele quickly puts the jacket on her. April starred at her as tears dropped slowly from her eyes.
"What about you mother? He won't forgive you for doing this?" April in a hoarse voice while standing to button up the jacket.
"Quickly put them on. He's my son, we can always settle any dispute between us. Your safety is more important to me." Old madam Steele quickly hands her the black eyeglass to put on.
April immediately staggered out of room with old madam Steele behind her to help. Before leaving finally, April bowed to thank her mother-in-law.
Old madam Steele smiled when she saw April running out of the building through the back yard in her weak body. At least one of us can finally escape a toxic marriage. She thought in her mind before closing the door to the house.
Swiftly, April made it out of the building through the back door entrance without getting noticed by Jake's bodyguard. Just as she was about to continue running towards the road, she collapsed on the ground.
She has been without food or water for a few days, so obviously her body had grown very weak. Plus, she is pregnant. Who knows what might have happened to the baby already.

TWO WEEKS LATER...….
April opened her eyes slowly, breathing heavily as she stared at the unfamiliar ceiling.
"April? Are you awake? Doctor?" Ruby quickly called running outside the hospital ward.
Swiftly, three doctors and two nurses rushed in to check on April who was still wondering what happened. The doctors performed the quick test and confirmed her health is stable but still needs to rest.
Immediately they left, Ruby couldn't help but smile at her friend. "I'm glad you're finally awake. You don't need to worry about anything; it's all being taken care of."
April staggered to get up from the way she laid on the bed to resting her back on a pillow.
"The doctor said you need more time to rest, don't stress yourself."
"How did I get here? I was just at Mr Steele's residence."
"You were just at Mr Steele's residence? You were unconscious for two weeks." Ruby laughed at her friend. As for April who seems confused, she didn't know she had been unconscious for that long.
"Then who brought me here?"
"It's all thanks to that cold faced Mr Lucas Brook. He was on his way to Mr Steele's apartment to save you when he saw you collapsed on the ground, so he quickly brought you to the hospital."
"And you don't need to worry about Mr Steele ever laying his filthy hands on you again, his matter has been taken care of. A restraining order has also been issued against him."
"It all thanks to Grandfather Brook. He also asked a lawyer to take care of your divorce with him immediately. He should be here soon." Ruby assured.
Old man Brook already settled matters regarding April's marriage and the domestic violence. He also ordered for the hospital to take care of her specially.
April's eyes brightened when the divorce was mentioned. She can finally have her freedom. As if just remembering something, April quickly asked with her hand placed on her belly.
"Wha- what about- my baby?" April stuttered in her tiny hoarse voice, her face pale and dull.
Ruby's face dulled at once when her friend asked about the baby. She lowered her head before she answered the curious April.
"We- we- lost it."
April couldn't believe her ears. She prayed nothing would happen to it, but it's now gone. Tears began flowing from her eyes immediately. I'm sorry baby, it's all my fault, April apologized in her mind as she continues to weep silently.
"It was due to Fetal distress. There was not enough nourishment that allowed the fetus to continue growing. And the surgery had to be done immediately they brought you here." Ruby watched her friend cry even more.
"April, it's not your fault, if not because of that crazy ass Jake Steele, I'm sure the baby would still be fine."
April never wanted anything bad to happen to the baby even though it came accidentally. She continued to cry in Ruby's arms before old man Brook came in.
"April my dear, I heard from the doctor that you're awake. How are you feeling?" Old man sat down close to her bed.
"Grandfather, I'm feeling much better. It's all thanks to your care." April smiled as she quickly wiped her tears and immediately wanted to come down from the bed to greet old man Brook, but he stopped her quickly.
"You don't need to trouble yourself much, stay in bed and rest." Old man brook smiled. .
