The streets were rather empty today, and the market was only somewhat busy. It's not like there is any sort of event right now, I'd probably know about it.
The bag of bread swung in my hands as I walked parallel to the road.
"Gosh, where the hell is the market…"
A girl, quite a bit smaller than me, walked past in annoyance. She's the first person I've seen this whole day outside of the market. (other than Kea before he left).
"Hey, I just came from the market! I can show you there!" I called out.
The girl turned around, facing me with an interested gaze.
"You would do that?... Ahem… I mean, that would be nice."
"Ok! So, where are you from!? You seem to be new here!"
"... I am from the Basall District, a few hours from here."
Basall? Where have I heard of that before?
"That's rather far! Is there any reason you came here?"
"... Y-yeah… There is a specific thing I need from this market."
Her voice was getting quieter per sentence.
"Oh, that's cool! Change of subjects, but are you staying here for long?"
"... Me? No. I am here for a few hours, then I'll be heading back home…"
This thing must be important to go out of their way for it like this.
"Well, may I ask what it is!?"
"... Sure… It's a spice for cooking. It's rather intriguing for chicken-based foods."
She can cook!?
"Oh, hey! We're here!"
The market, a rather massive section of the city, is made up of only stalls and stands spreading across a big flat concrete park.
The girl rubbed her hands.
"I'll be fine from here. You were quite helpful to me. I thank you."
I quickly grabbed her hand.
"It was nice to meet you, too! My name's Nil! I hope to see you again!"
"Eh, uh… My name is Lyia, but everybody just calls me Little Akane. See you."
The nice lady walked off.
Nil?... Where have I heard that name before? Hopefully, I didn't take up too much of her time.
